더불어민주당 강득구 의원은 24일 국회 소통관에서 기자회견을 통해  "의원실에서 확인한 결과 양평군은 지난 목요일 1억 8천 7백여만원(187,684,630원)의 개발부담금을 뒤늦게, 최종 부과일이었던 지난 2017년 6월로부터 4년 반이 지나서 부과하겠다고 통지한 것으로 드러났다"며, "불과 며칠 전까지도 이익이 남지 않아서 개발부담금을 0원으로 깎아주는 특혜를 준 것이 아무런 문제가 없다는 입장이었다. 그런데 갑자기 공흥지구 개발 사업에 지금껏 없던 이익이 새로 발생한 것인지 이해할 수 없다"고 비판했다.
