Jeonnam-do, as a local tourism model for “Tourism Doure Regional Cooperation Project”

Degree. Establish a virtuous cycle structure to create jobs and income by discovering and fostering resident-led businesses

(Muan = Break News) Reporter Hak-Soo Lee = Jeollanam-do visited a local resident company in Naju on the 16th to revitalize Jeonnam tourism through the discovery of resident-led local tourism resources for the “Tourism Door Regional Cooperation Project.”

This visit was made to check the operation status of Naju residents, which have been incorporated into the new management area this year, to listen to difficulties and discuss development plans through a meeting with residents.

Jeonnam-do was selected in 2019 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and has spent 1.5 billion won in national roads to run a local manpower training program, discover and nurture resident businesses, and promote public relations and marketing projects for resident businesses.

As it enters its third year of this year, it is regarded as a successful business model that best coats the natural color of local in the tourism community created by local residents.

The Tourism Doore Regional Cooperation Project is a project in which local residents discover tourism resources unique to the region and foster it into a tourism industry that is tailored to the region. It is evaluated as a project to rediscover the “value of coexistence” in that it establishes a virtuous cycle tourism ecosystem that allows local communities to directly participate in the local tourism industry, rather than government-led tourism development.

In the future, Jeonnam-do will expand and operate related training to strengthen the capacity of resident businesses and actively promote PR activities, such as operating a PR messenger to raise awareness of local cooperation projects in the tourism area. It plans to support the mentoring and pilot projects tailored to the relevant residents' businesses so that they can become a sustainable Jeollanam-do residents' business.

Kim Byeong-ju, head of the Jeonnam-do Tourism, Culture and Sports Bureau, said, “It is important to bring out the ideas that residents have discovered themselves to the start-up stage to revitalize local tourism. I will create more jobs,” he said.
