SK Telecom President Park Jung-ho announced, “Even if the corona disappears tomorrow, we will promote “Work Anywhere,” which allows all employees to work freely regardless of work place such as home, company, or base office.

On the afternoon of the 17th, SKT held an online and offline town hall over an hour under the theme of'Work Anywhere-Innovation in the way you work' at the Supex Hall at its headquarters in Euljiro. Only 30 employees of SK ICT Family who applied for participation in advance were present at the site, and other employees participated through video conference solutions.

At this meeting, President Park said, “Because we cannot go back 100% to the past, we need to study how to improve our work and communication method. We will try to work freely anytime, anywhere based on our data and non-face-to-face technology I emphasized.

He added, “We will expand our base offices in earnest as one of the attempts to overcome spatial constraints,” he added. “Through this, we will develop a new organizational culture and new space utilization capabilities.”

SKT has established “base offices” in five regions, including Euljiro, Jongno, Seodaemun, Bundang and Pangyo, within 10 to 20 minutes of commute this year. Base offices are becoming popular with members by eliminating the shortcomings of working from home and reducing commuting time. It is used by 100 to 200 people a day. SKT plans to gradually expand its base offices by analyzing where members live.

President Park said, “With Work Anywhere, we can work as part of the Seoul headquarters team in Busan, too,” and “We will work together with our family and employees who need to stay overseas, or people who have been selected from overseas without necessarily coming to Korea.” .

He also explained the background of the idea of the base office. President Park explained, "At first, I was thinking about a way to help commuting to work efficiently with commuter buses, and then my thoughts expanded on how to reduce the inefficiency that occurs during commuting."

He added, "If Work Anywhere spreads throughout society, it can contribute to ESG (environment, society, governance) by reducing the total travel time and reducing carbon emissions from vehicles."

On this day, President Park Jung-ho also introduced a champion (project leader) who will lead the base office business. Born in 1988, Taeha Yoon is a PL, and has been a new employee for 3 years. Yun PL was selected through fierce competition in the company through a public offering procedure to announce future business plans to the management in October. This selection reflects the management's intention to entrust decision-making to young employees and accelerate innovation.

On the 5th, President Park Jung-ho made a meeting for members again in two weeks following the town hall under the theme of “Mobility Business”. In accordance with the post-corona era, management information and topics are frequently communicated to members, and ideas are discussed openly to overcome space restrictions.

President Park said, "The base office has also been concreted after discussions through non-face-to-face town halls in June. We will establish a culture where we can directly exchange opinions by e-mail or discuss publicly through town halls from time to time."
