【브레이크뉴스 충북】임창용 기자=지난 10월 31일부터 11월 3일까지 경북 김천에서 진행된 제 40회 대한체육회장배 전국롤러스포츠 대회에서 한국호텔관광고등학교 강혜원(사진) 학생이 E10,000m 종목 금메달, EP10,000m 종목 은메달을 획득했다.
이번 수상은 정식 경기장이 없는 단양에서 지도자와 학생의 노력으로 이루어낸 성과라는 점에서 체육계의 이목을 끌고 있다. 강혜원 학생은 정식 훈련장이 없어 방과 후 일반 도로에서 훈련하면서도 꾸준히 실력을 향상시켰다. 이민섭 지도교사는 “어려운 환경에서도 포기하지 않고 훈련에 임해준 강혜원 학생에게 고맙고 기특하다”며 앞으로 더욱 성장하는 선수가 될 수 있을 것이라고 전했다.
강혜원 학생은 뛰어난 재능과 끈기로 중학교 시절 전국소년체전 3관왕을 비롯해 우리나라 최초의 학생부 동계, 하계 전국체육대회 금메달을 획득한 유망주로 앞으로의 행보가 기대되는 선수다. 수상 후 강혜원 학생은 ‘국가대표를 목표로 앞으로도 훈련에 최선을 다하겠다’는 포부를 전했다.
