귀에 못이 박히는 이재명에 대한 지난 2년간의 검찰 수사진 노력의 결과는 헛발질로 드러났다. 중앙지법 영장 발부 전담 유창훈 부장판사의 기각내용은 ‘증거인멸 우려가 없고, 백현동 사건만 소명됐으나 입증할 직접증거가 전혀 없다’라고 적시했다. 이어, ‘영장 청구 사안 여러 곳이 다툼의 소지가 있다’라고 덧붙이기도 했다.
