[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 6일 오전 창원 충혼탑에서 순국선열과 호국영령의 얼을 기리고 추모하기 위해 ‘위대한 헌신, 영원히 가슴에’라는 주제로 제68회 현충일 추념식을 개최했다.
이날 추념식에는 박완수 경상남도지사, 박종훈 경남교육감, 강기윤 국회의원, 보훈단체, 독립유공자와 참전유공자 등 도민 1,000여 명이 참석해 나라를 위해 희생하신 분들을 기리며 함께 참배했다.
추념식은 오전 10시 전국적으로 동시에 울리는 사이렌 취명에 맞춰 순국선열 및 호국영령에 대한 추모 묵념을 시작으로 국민의례, 헌화 및 분향, 추념사, 헌시낭독, 현충일 노래 제창 순으로 진행됐다.
특히 6.25전쟁 전사자인 故 이종태 일병의 며느리(子婦)이자 창원낭송문학회장인 김효경 씨가 나라를 위한 희생과 헌신, 평화와 안식을 담은 추모 헌시인 ‘다시, 6월에’를 낭독했다.

현충일 추념식은 도내 전 시군 충혼탑에서 묵념 시간에 맞춰 일제히 거행됐다. 경남도는 도내 공공기관과 기업체에서도 추모 분위기를 조성하기 위해 태극기 조기 게양을 독려했으며, 각 지역 충혼탑에서 자율적으로 참배할 수 있도록 현충일 홍보 운동을 추진했다.
