Gyeongbuk TP won the grand prize in the eco-friendly logistics sector

Gyeongbuk Techno Park (President Ha In-seong, hereinafter referred to as Gyeongbuk TP) announced on the 26th that it had won the grand prize in the eco-friendly logistics category at the 26th Korea Logistics Awards Ceremony held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul on May 19.

Gyeongbuk TP was highly praised for promoting various attempts and efforts to innovate the eco-friendly logistics paradigm, taking charge of the demonstration of the ‘Smart Green Logistics Regulation Free Zone (hereinafter referred to as Logistics Special Zone)’.

In particular, through the recent regulatory review meeting of the Office of Government Policy Coordination, he played a practical role in the process of deriving recommendations for regulatory improvement and commercialization plans for the introduction of ‘electric cargo bicycles’, an eco-friendly urban logistics method for the first time in Korea.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Gyeongsangbuk-do have designated Gimcheon City as the first and only logistics-related special zone in Korea from 2021 to solve the problem of urban living logistics together with 12 logistics-related special zone companies such as Coupang, Mesh Korea, and PLG. We are running an innovation project.

Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gimcheon-si show an active will for the successful logistics special zone demonstration project, securing a separate site and proceeding with the center construction for commercialization.

Korea is recording the world's highest level of delivery volume per person, and in particular, side effects such as environment, traffic, and safety are appearing one after another in the final delivery section due to the concentration of residential areas in the city and the development of e-commerce.

It is difficult to secure a delivery base in the downtown area and there is no eco-friendly delivery method optimized for short-distance logistics in the city center, so it is vulnerable to efficiency and environmental issues. Due to frequent stops and low fuel efficiency, each existing 1-ton delivery truck emits more than 7.7 tons of carbon per year, which is equivalent to the amount absorbed by 1,100 30-year-old pine trees for a year.

Gyeongbuk TP Smart Green Logistics Support Center Director Park Seong-geun said, “In the special zone, we added a win-win logistics complex function to the downtown public parking lot and combined eco-friendly cargo electric bicycles suitable for the final delivery section to solve problems such as difficult delivery and conflicts within apartment complexes. can be demonstrated. If we change the structure of the final delivery system and introduce an eco-friendly delivery method, we will be able to catch two rabbits in terms of economy and environment.”

Director Ha In-seong said, “Thanks to the active support of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Gimcheon City, as well as the cooperation of special zone companies and partner organizations, we were able to win the grand prize in the eco-friendly logistics category.” We will do our best to spread innovation and win-win logistics models nationwide.”
