(광주=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 전남지방우정청은 지난 11일 가정의 달을 맞이하여 광주지역 미혼모시설과학대피해아동쉼터에 후원물품 및 후원금을 기부하는 사랑 나눔 행사를 실시했다고 밝혔다.
미혼모시설‘엔젤하우스’는 예상하지 못한 임신 및 출산의 어려움에 처한 임산부와 미혼모 가족에게 편안한 숙식을 제공하고 정서·문화적 서비스를 통해 실질적인 자립을 지원하는 시설이다. 하지만 노후된 시설과 지원 부족으로 운영에 어려움을 겪고 있다.
또한 학대피해아동쉼터는 수사기관 등을 통해 학대 행위자로부터 분리‧인도된 피해아동을 보호하는 시설로서 광주에는 현재 5곳의 쉼터가 운영 중이다. 시설의 특성상 비공개로 운영되다 보니 타 복지시설에 비해 시민들의 관심과 지원이 상대적으로 부족한 상황이다.
이에 전남지방우정청은 미혼모가족을 위하여 시설에서 필요로 하는 100만 원 상당의 후원물품과 학대피해 아동들의 치료비 및 일시 보호에 사용될 후원금 100만 원을 각각 기부했다.
송관호 청장은“어려운 환경에 처한 우리 이웃들에 조금이나마 위로의마음이 전달되었으면 좋겠다.”라며“앞으로도 따뜻한 지역사회를 만드는 데 보탬이 되는 사회공헌 활동을 계속해 가겠다.”고 밝혔다.
