Fashion in Motion, an event held at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), the world's largest craft museum in South Kensington, London, is a world-renowned fashion show program. Kim Min-joo, a fashion designer, will participate for the first time among Koreans, according to the Korean Cultural Center in England (Director Shin Seung-hye).

The background of the first participation of Korean fashion designers in the global event "Fashion in Motion" is the passion of the working-level staff of the Korean Cultural Center in England to promote ours. The event was held at the Victoria Albert Museum on September 24 last year and will be held until June 25 this year to convey the wave of the Korean Wave to the world! It is a program linked to 'Korean Wave'.

It is an achievement achieved by local working-level officials constantly communicating the reality of artistic sensibility contained in fashion designer Kim Min-ju's work, and the support agreement process between the museum and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Oriole Cullen, senior curator of modern textiles and fashion at the V&A Museum, who organized the event, said, "I am happy to show the modern femininity contained in Korean designer Kim Min-ju's works, which have a rich imagination of beautiful emotions."

Motion, a world-renowned fashion show fashion, will present about 35 collections at the Raphael Court, Victoria's Albert Museum's most important space, on April 21st (Friday) at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., 8 p.m. and 4 times.

The Raphael Gallery space is a very special space among the Victoria and Albert Museum. First of all, unlike the crowded relics exhibition in many exhibition spaces, there is the most space. This stems from the historical story of the Renaissance master Raphael (1483-1520). The work on display is a tapestry cartoon, a sketch for the production of traditional textile art tapestries, which has too many stories, but summarizes them as important stories.

When Pope Leo X (1475-1521) of the Italian Medici family, who symbolized the Renaissance, ascended to the papacy in 1514, the Sistine Chapel of the Vatican Palace was a conclave, meaning a place to elect the pope. Raphael was commissioned to work in a precious space and sketched the lives of the apostles Peter and Paul with a passion of his soul. After many twists and turns, the works with history were exhibited in the Victoria Albert Museum.

The museum's Raphael Gallery space has long been remodeled, modeled after the Vatican's Sistine Chapel, and was born in a new look in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first participation of a Korean fashion designer in the main space of the Victoria Albert Museum, which consists of a triple-high dome-shaped ceiling, is significant.

Fashion designer Kim Min-ju was born in Korea, studied middle and high schools in the Netherlands, returned to Korea and majored in fashion design at SADI, a design education institution established by Samsung. After graduation, he studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. After winning the grand prize at the global "H&M Awards" in 2013, he established the brand MINJUKIM and produced the world tour costumes of BTS (BTS), the epitome of K-pop, and the stage costumes of the girl group Red Velvet.

In particular, he won the global survival fashion program "Next in Fashion," co-organized by Netflix and global fashion platform Netaporte in 2020, winning the title with an original silhouette with excellent modern sensibility.

The program Fashion in Motion, which means moving fashion, is held three times a year as a beautiful fashion show with a runway against the backdrop of the characteristic structure of the Victoria Albert Museum.

The first stage of the long-standing "Fashion in Motion" was Irish-born world-renowned hat designer "Philip Tracy," who introduced the avant-garde artistry of hats to the world on May 19, 1999. He was praised as a life-bearing hat for showing off his outstanding sensibility to the costumes of British fashion designer Anthony Price, who sublimated the tone of his suit into art.

Following this, the past 24 years of history included world-class designers such as Alexander McQueen, a British fashion designer who is considered a genius of the experimental spirit of modern fashion, who passed away at the age of 40 in 2010, to sublimate the sensibility of the times into style.

Indian-born (Ashsi Gupta), French-born (Christian Lacroix), who pursued comprehensive art, British (Christopher Raven), Canadian-born (Erdem Moraloglu), who sprayed flowers on fashion with the scent of light and darkness.

In addition, Scottish-born (Holly Fulton), who emphasized psychedelic visual language sensibility, French (Jean Paul Gautier), the epitome of the corset look that breaks the boundary between underwear and outerwear, British (Jenny Packham), Japanese (Yamoto Kan), and German fashionist Zanobangusta.

Chinese (Marker), British (John Alexander Skelton), British (Molly Goddard) with a thin silk net, Serbian (Roxanda Ilichik) with a combination of aesthetics and modern sensibility, and Victorian fashion.

Designer Kim Min-ju's costume work, which will be shown in "Fashion in Motion," is known to have been inspired by Princess Bari, a traditional shamanic tale. Princess Bari, a small ancient kingdom, was secretly abandoned as soon as she was born as the seventh princess, not the son the whole country aspired to be. Bari means "throw away." Gongju is the main character of the lost time when her father, the king, overcame all kinds of trials and revived his father, who was holding a funeral by obtaining a famous medicine.

Designer Kim Min-joo, who is considered a designer who touches the rich imagination, is expected to show deep beauty with a silhouette that combines patterns that value sublimated sensibility in the beauty of Korean tradition and modern design.

Based on the achievement of being the first Korean designer to participate in a long 24 years of history, I hope that the artistry that shines as ours will become a river that flows with style and emotion in the body and mind of people around the world. artwww@naver.com
