(광주=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 광주시는 행정안전부 주관 특별지방자치단체 설치 맞춤형 컨설팅 사업 대상에 선정됐다.
특별지방자치단체는 2개 이상의 지방자치단체가 공동으로 특정 목적을 위해 광역으로 사무를 처리하기 위해 설치하는 지방자치단체 법인으로, 지방자치법 개정을 통해 지난해부터 새롭게 시행된 지자체 간 협력제도이다.
광주시는 4월부터 진행하는 컨설팅을 통해 지역 특색에 맞는 사무 및 권한 발굴, 기관 구성 등 특별지방자치단체 설치 방안 마련을 위해 행안부 등 중앙부처와 관련 전문가들이 머리를 맞댈 예정이다.
광주시는 특별지방자치단체 설치를 통해 광역행정 수요에 탄력적으로 대응, 행정효율성을 높이고 중복투자 및 갈등으로 인한 사회적 비용을 절감하는 효과가 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.
또 교통·SOC, 산업·문화 등 다양한 분야의 광주‧전남 지역 현안과 숙원사업을 대규모 국책사업과 연계한 초광역 투자협약 사업으로 추진해 미래 호남권 발전을 위한 새로운 계기가 될 것으로 전망한다.
