(광주=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 광주시와 삼성전자가 손을 맞잡고 ‘인공지능(AI) 스타트업’을 키운다. 상생 협력 파트너로서 인공지능(AI) 중심도시 광주를 ‘AI 벤처허브’로 육성, 창업성공률이 높은 기회도시 실현에 한 발짝 다가선다는 계획이다.
광주시에 따르면 삼성전자는 지난 20일 서구 상무지구 삼성화재 사옥 20층에서강기정 시장, 김완표 삼성글로벌리서치 사장, 정성택 삼성전자 부사장, 송갑석‧양향자 국회의원, 정무창 광주시의회 의장 등이 참석한 가운데 ‘C랩 아웃사이드 광주’ 개소식을 하고, 본격적으로 AI 혁신 스타트업 육성 사업을 시작했다.
‘C랩 아웃사이드’는 삼성전자가 지역 스타트업 발굴에서부터 기술 육성, 사업화까지 창업 전 과정을 지원하고 삼성전자의 협력 파트너로까지 성장시키는 지원 프로그램이다.
광주시는 그간 축적된 삼성전자의 C랩 아웃사이드 노하우를 지역으로 확산, 성장 잠재력이 큰 우수 스타트업이 수도권으로 이전하지 않고 지역에 정착·성장할 수 있는 기반을 마련하고, 이를 통해 지역경제 활성화, 양질의 일자리 창출 등에 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
광주시와 삼성전자의 협력 파트너십은 민선 8기 광주시의 ‘창업성공률이 높은 기회도시 광주’ 실현에 대한 강한 의지가 반영된 것으로 보인다.
삼성전자는 지난해 10월 광주시를 방문, 강기정 시장에게 ‘C랩 아웃사이드 광주’ 추진을 제안했다. 5000억 창업펀드 조성, 호남 최대 창업밸리 조성 등 창업생태계 혁신을 추진하는 광주시와 상생 협력을 통해 우수한 혁신 기술을 보유한 지역 스타트업을 발굴·육성한다는 것이다.
강 시장도 올해 미국 라스베이거스에서 열린 세계 최대 IT·가전박람회인 CES 2023에서 ‘삼성전자 C랩 전시관’을 깜짝 방문, 스타트업 대표들을 직접 만나 광주 주력산업과의 연계 및 실증 협력방안을 논의하는 등 ‘C랩 아웃사이드 광주’에 대한 관심과 기대를 높였다.
올해 첫 출발한 ‘C랩 아웃사이드 광주’에는 인공지능(AI) 중심도시 광주의 지역 특성에 맞춰 AI 분야 스타트업이 중점적으로 선발됐다.
이번에 선정된 기업은 ▲경량화 솔루션을 적용한 AI 모델 개발 기업‘클리카’ ▲AI 기반 생체정보 인증&결제 솔루션 기업 ‘고스트패스’▲AI 활용 동물 생체 분석 및 가축 케어 플랫폼 개발 기술 기업 ‘인트플로우’▲얼굴 영상으로 건강·감정 상태 모니터링 솔루션 기업 ‘감성텍’ ▲에너지 절감냉각소재(필름/페인트) 개발기업 ‘포엘’ 등 5개 기업이다.
‘C랩 아웃사이드 광주’에 선정된 스타트업들은 ▲기업별 최대 1억원의 사업지원금 지급 ▲1년간 사무공간 무상 제공 ▲성장 단계별 맞춤형 컨설팅 ▲삼성전자 및 계열사와의 협력 기회 연결 ▲CES 등 국내외 IT 전시회 참가 ▲임직원 멘토링 등을 지원한다.
또 ‘C랩 아웃사이드 서울’과 ‘C랩 아웃사이드 광주’ 간 유기적인 협력을 위한 교류프로그램도 추진한다.
