브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 미성년 제자를 강간하려 한 혐의 등으로 기소된 피겨스케이팅 국가대표 출신 이규현(42)에게 징역 4년이 선고됐다.
26일 의정부지법 남양주지원 형사합의1부(부장판사 박옥희)는 강간미수 등의 혐의로 기소된 이규현에 대해 징역 4년을 선고했다. 이와 함께 성폭력 치료 프로그램 40시간 이수, 아동·청소년·장애인 관련 시설 10년간 취업제한 등을 명령했다.
이날 재판부는 “피해자는 당시 범행에 취약한 18세로 정신적인 충격이 상당히 크다. 현재도 일상생활이 어렵고 앞으로 선수 생활을 할 수 있을지도 의문”이라며 “피고인은 범행 경위 등에 비춰 죄 책임이 무겁다. 강간 미수를 부인하고 반성하지 않는 점 등을 고려하면 엄중한 처벌이 불가피하다”며 양형 이유를 밝혔다.
앞서 검찰은 지난해 12월 20일 열린 결심공판에서 피고인 이규현에게 징역 6년을 선고해달라고 재판부에 요청한 바 있다.
이규현은 지난해 초 자신이 가르치던 10대 제자 한 명을 강제 추행하고 강간하려다 미수에 그친 혐의 등으로 구속기소됐고, 동영상을 불법 촬영한 혐의도 받고 있다. 이규현 측은 현재 추행과 동영상 촬영 혐의는 인정하고 있으나, 강간미수 혐의는 부인하고 있다.
한편, 피겨스케이팅 국가대표 출신 이규현은 1998년 나가노, 2002년 솔트레이크 등 동계올림픽에 2회 연속 출전한 기록을 갖고 있다. 2003년 현역 은퇴 후 코치로 활동해왔다.
