On the 18th (local time), President Yoon Seok-yeol announced that he would receive an investment of 300 million dollars (approximately 370 billion won) from Vestas, a Danish global wind turbine company, and said, "We will provide necessary support throughout the investment process."

President Yoon, who arrived in Switzerland the day before to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF), attended the investment declaration ceremony between the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Vestas at a hotel in Davos that day and achieved such results. As a result, Vestas' large-scale turbine parts production plant will be established in Korea, and at the same time, the Asia-Pacific regional headquarters will be moved to Korea.

Previously, in June of last year, President Yoon discussed 'expanding mutual investment in offshore wind power' at a summit meeting with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on the occasion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit.

After expressing his gratitude to Vestas CEO Henrik Anderson, President Yoon said, “Korea declared carbon neutrality by 2050, and is rapidly restoring the ecosystem of nuclear power plants, which are carbon-free power sources, and expanding the supply of clean energy such as renewable energy and hydrogen.” “It is very important that Vestas, which is leading wind power technology, and Korea, which has great potential for wind power generation, continue to cooperate,” he said.

"With the investment in a production plant worth $300 million, Korea has taken the first step toward becoming a wind power manufacturing hub in the Asia Pacific region," he said. There is significance in discovering another export engine while doing so.”

In addition, "The Korean government is making efforts to support regulatory reform and core technology development to accelerate the spread of wind power generation, and is doing its best to create a business-friendly environment under a market-oriented economy led by the private sector." If you have any difficulties, please let me know at any time."

In response, Anderson said, "I was very impressed when I visited Korea last year, and the biggest inspiration was Korea's strong commitment to wind power." We will contribute to Korea's efforts and contribute to the establishment of the supply chain."
