President Yoon Seok-yeol arrived in Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) after a state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for 3 nights and 4 days on the 17th (local time).

President Yoon held a meeting with compatriots at a hotel in Zurich on the first day of his schedule in Switzerland and said, “This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and Switzerland, and based on the trust, cooperation and achievements that both countries have built up so far, we will make more efforts toward the next 60 years.” “In the era of competition in science and technology, we will strongly seek cooperation in advanced science and technology with technology-leading countries that share universal values, such as Switzerland,” he said.

"The two countries, Korea and Switzerland, have come closer to each other as they have gone through turbulent modern history," he said.

He also said, "The cornerstone of economic cooperation was strengthened through the European Free Trade Association (FTA) in 2006, and trade between the two countries is reaching record highs every year. New opportunities for cooperation are expanding in future industries such as pharmaceuticals and bio."

Then, after mentioning the case of former President Syngman Rhee's petition for independence to the international community in Geneva in 1933, "Governor Lee Han-ho (1895-1960), a disciple of President Syngman Rhee, devoted himself to the independence of his country in Switzerland and made a great footprint in sports exchanges between the two countries. "I am deeply grateful for the great interest and support from our compatriots in the process of sending the remains of Governor Lee Han-ho to Korea last November," he said.

In addition, he said, "We will do our best to ensure that Korea's new leap forward brings real benefits to our compatriots," and "Korean cultural contents are really helping to expand our corporate competitiveness around the world."

President Yoon said, “At the multilateral meeting where dozens of leaders gather, we are facing the great interest and passion of various leaders in our cultural content.” We will do our best to support the education of children so that there is no such thing."

He added, "We will do well in science and technology cooperation with technology-leading countries that share the universal values of freedom, human rights, and the rule of law like Switzerland, and in the process, we will see that real benefits are returned to Korean society."

Kim Eun-hye, chief public relations chief of the Presidential Office, introduced President Yoon's remarks and said that a performance by a Bernese Korean choir and samulnori group was also held at the meeting.
