윤석열 대통령이 10일 "지금은 과학기술·디지털 경쟁력이 국가 미래·생존과 직결되는 시대"라고 밝혔다.
윤 대통령은 이날 '2023 과학기술인·정보방송통신인 신년인사회'에 참석해 이같이 밝힌 후 "국가전략기술을 통한 미래산업 선점과 인공지능(AI) 중심 디지털 기술 일상화와 디지털 격차 해소를 위한 국제사회 연대를 통해 도전·혁신을 뒷받침하겠다"고 말했다.
그러면서 "대한민국이 글로벌 과학기술 강국·디지털 모범국가로 도약할 수 있도록 힘을 모아달라"고 덧붙였다.
대통령의 과학기술인·정보방송통신인 신년인사회 참석은 지난 2016년 이후 7년 만이다.
윤 대통령은 지난 대선 당선 후 과학기술인·정보방송통신인들과 지속 소통을 이어온 가운데 지난해 4월 한국과학기술원 나노종합기술원 방문을 비롯 7월 정보보호의 날 기념식 참석, 9월 토론토대 AI 석학과 대화 및 제8차 비상경제민생회의 계기 디지털 전략 발표, 11월 과학기술계 원로 초청 간담회, 12월 미래 과학자와 대화 등을 가진 바 있다.
이날 행사엔 울릉도·백령도·제주도·서울 등 국내는 물론 미국·싱가포르 해외 과학기술인·정보방송통신인 등도 영상으로 참여했다.
