국립 ‘갯벌 세계자연유산 보전본부’ 신안설립 확정

전남도 유치…-갯벌의 체계적 보전 위한 통합관리 등 기능

(무안·신안=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자= 세계자연유산 갯벌의 체계적 보전을 위한 통합관리, 일관된 보전․활용 및 대내외 협력사업 등을 수행할 ‘갯벌 세계자연유산 보전본부’가 전남 신안 압해읍 일원에 조성된다.


전남도는 해양수산부가 공모한 ‘갯벌 세계자연유산 보전본부’ 설립지로 신안군이 최종 선정돼 세계자연유산 ‘한국의 갯벌’ 정책의 중심지로 자리매김할 수 있는 기틀을 마련했다고 밝혔다.


특히 보전본부 유치로 향후 30년간 생산유발효과 927억 원, 부가가치효과 514억 원, 고용유발효과 2천100명 등 경제적 파급효과가 기대되고 있다.


도는 그동안 보전본부 유치를 위해 해양수산부의 공모계획 평가항목에, 전남도와 신안군의 세계자연유산 등재 노력 및 기여도를 포함할 것을 건의하는 등 다각적인 노력을 기울였다.


보전본부 입지에 대한 대국민 설문조사, 전남도 유치 지지서명, 언론홍보 등 활동도 펼쳤다.


또한 전국 광역지자체 중 유일하게 ‘갯벌보전관리추진단’을 운영, 갯벌의 체계적 관리를 위해 ‘갯벌 기본조사 및 중장기 종합계획’을 수립하는 등 갯벌 전담업무를 수행했다.


신안군은 세계자연유산 ‘한국의 갯벌’의 85.7%를 차지하고 있다. 세계자연유산 등재되기까지 주도적이고 핵심적인 역할과 지원을 담당했다. 또한 연구기관, 민간단체, 지자체 등 유기적인 네트워크를 구성하고 있다.
