[Break News Gyeonggi Nambu = Reporter Kim Jong-un, Yongin] Yongin Special City has established a roadmap for creating an ‘L-shaped’ semiconductor belt in Yongin.

The key is to additionally create an industrial complex for the integration of semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment companies.

Semiconductor belts range from small/department/jang research and manufacturing facilities (440,000 m2) in Yongin Platform City located in Giheung-gu, Samsung Electronics Giheung Campus Future Research Complex (1.88 million m2), and Giheung Future High-tech Industrial Complex (SEMES, 110,000 m2). ), Jigok General Industrial Complex (Lamb Research R&D Center, 70,000 m2), Tongsam General Industrial Complex (Surplus Global, 50,000 m2), The 2nd Yongin Techno Valley (270,000 m2), Yongin Semiconductor Cluster (4.16 million m2) , leads to an L-shape to the Wonsam Semiconductor Cooperation Complex (in the process of discussing the volume of the project complex, 240,000 m2). The total area is 6.42 million square meters (about 1.94 million pyeong).

The city plans to create an industrial complex with a size of 350,000 square meters (about 105,800 pyeong) in Cheoin-gu where semiconductor small/department/jang companies can move in.

To this end, we will conduct a demand survey on semiconductor companies by December, review the location and development method, and discuss with Gyeonggi Province, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to secure the quantity of industrial complexes.

Once the quantity is allocated, the industrial complex plan for 2025 will be established and approved, and industrial complex development will begin in stages from 2026.

At the same time, the city will also support tenant companies by establishing a new organization responsible for systematic nurturing of the semiconductor industry and laying the groundwork for actively easing building regulations in industrial complexes.

In addition, Samsung Electronics plans to strengthen partnerships with Samsung Electronics and expedite the licensing process so that the future research complex of Samsung Electronics' Giheung Campus can be created in a timely manner.

The enactment of the 'Semiconductor Industry Promotion and Support Ordinance (tentative name)', which is currently being promoted for the first time in the nation by basic local governments, is also scheduled to be completed without any problems and submitted to the Yongin City Council in November.

Yongin Special Mayor Lee Sang-il said, “According to the L-shaped semiconductor belt roadmap, we will build a foundation for perfectly creating a semiconductor ecosystem with global competitiveness together with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix by integrating small, sub- and long-term companies.” Together with Yongin Special Citizens, we will grow and develop Yongin Special City into a global semiconductor center next to Silicon Valley in the United States.”
