한국에서의 탐정업! 헌법재판소의 판시(2018.6.28)와 신용정보의 이용 및 보호에 관한 법률 개정(2020.2.4) 등으로 이미 비범죄화(합법화)되어 탐정사, 사설탐정사, 실종자소재분석사, 자료수집대행사, 탐정학술지도사 등 각양각색의 이름(등록민간자격)으로 직업화가 진행되고 있다. 하지만 대중은 시컨둥 반신반의(半信半疑)하는 분위기이다. 탐정업(민간조사업)에 불이 붙지 않고 있다는 얘기다. 이와 관련 일부에서는 ‘탐정업이 합법화되었으나 아직 법제화에 이르지 못한 탓’이라고 풀이하기도 하나 그보다 ‘탐정의 역량과 유용성에 대한 시민들의 공감이 형성되지 않은 탓’이라고 보는 견해가 지배적이다.
이에 한국민간조사학술연구소(소장 김종식)는 한국형 탐정업 활성화 촉진책의 일환으로 ‘탐정의 역할 및 역량 확대 개발’과 ‘시민들의 탐정에 대한 부정적 이미지 개선’에 적극 나서기로 했으며, 그 구체적 방안의 하나로 ‘탐정업무의 정석과 응용 논리 보급’ 및 ‘탐정의 존재 의미를 재조명(‘이것이 탐정이다’를 제시)’하는 매체로 기능할 공익추구형 유튜브 ‘K탐정단tv’를 개설키로 한 바, 오는 9월 15일부터 ‘보랏빛 탐정수첩’이라는 주제로 월2회 방송을 시작한다.
K탐정단은 이 유튜브를 통해 탐정(업)이 ‘사람찾기나 궁금·의문 또는 억울함 해소 등 문제해결(자료수집, 사실관계파악)에 매우 유용한 편익 수단’임을 논리적으로 알려나가는 한편, 전국 1만명의 탐정들과 공조하여 시민들에게 위협이 될 위기·위해·위난요소 등을 조기에 포착·전파하거나 부패, 미제사건 등 범죄 해결 실마리를 탐지·발굴하여 제보·고발하는 등으로 탐정의 유용성을 대중에게 실증적으로 예시하는 일에 진력할 계획이다. 이는 시대정신에 부합하는 탐정의 존립 가치이자 시민의 여망이기도 하다.
한편 K탐정단은 지난해 한국민간조사학술연구소 부설로 조직되어 특허청에 그 상표를 등록한 국내 최대 탐정단으로 3선 국회의원(행정안전위원장)을 지낸 이인기 변호사와 전 경찰청 수사국장·경찰청 차장·경남 경찰청장·경찰대학장을 지낸 박진우 동국대학교 석좌교수, 서울경찰청 정보분실장·강남 경찰서장·서울경찰청 정보관리 부장을 지낸 박종구 전 tbs서울방송 대표 등 3인의 고문과 변호사·교수·언론인·전문가 등 30인으로 구성된 자문단(싱크탱크) 및 공익탐정요원으로 위촉된 전국 각지 200명여 명의 베테랑 탐정들으로 구성되어 있다.
