Collector Jung Sang-rim and painter Park Jong-yong's eternal "Artistic Companion".

Before "Sejong Collection Story"...The trend of modern and contemporary Korean art at a glance.

Park Jongyong's "Resolution Feast" - Jeong Sangrim Collection, "Art Together" Continue

Amid a significant contraction in activities not only in the domestic and foreign economies but also in various fields of society due to the global pandemic phenomenon, the damage in the field of culture and arts is beyond imagination. In particular, the art field in which a large number of audiences participate, such as performances and exhibitions, has been stagnating for a longer time than ever.

Even in these harsh times, some artistic activities are attracting great attention and attracting audiences.

The Sejong Collector Story exhibition, which has been presented at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul since the 9th, is a representative example. The exhibition, which is designed to re-examine the role of collectors in the art world and expand empathy for the social values sponsored by artists, highlights a very different aspect from before.

If the previous two exhibitions only displayed the collector's collection, the exhibition will communicate with the audience with the collector and the works of the artist he sponsored.

The late Baekgong Jeong Sang-rim (1940~2019), a collector, has been in an artistic relationship for more than 40 years since he got to know artist Park Jong-yong in the late 1970s when he was a prosecutor. Jeong Sang-rim has long collected and sponsored many paintings with abundant artistic knowledge and his own aesthetics, of which Park Jong-yong has been a writer and lifelong artistic partner.

The two artists faced a turning point when they planned to build an art museum in Yongdae-ri, Inje-gun, Gangwon-do in 2006. Jeong Sang-rim collected more excellent Korean modern and contemporary art as a professional collector, held numerous exhibitions based on these works, and Park Jong-yong entered the path of full-fledged abstract painting.

Painter Park, who had been working on various works such as folk paintings, Buddhist paintings, portraits, crafts, and sculptures in Seoul at the age of 17, began to seriously think about the essence of art in 2006, and paid attention to "gyeol" after struggling to express the essence of things.

"Gyeol" refers to the condition or pattern of the woven background while solid and soft parts of the tissue gather from trees, stones, and skin to constantly turn it on.

Painter Park noted that each thing in the world has its own unique texture. It was intended to express in a work that "Gyeol" itself is not just a visible pattern, but a history that an object possesses entirely.

Various materials such as soil, Madaecheon Stream, trees, and stones are used in his work, and labor and sincerity are added to create new abstract art. The passion and effort for the "resolution" of communicating with nature and trying to capture the essence of things are born into works.

" "Gyeol" is the crystal of sweat drops shed while burning flesh, and is (my) breath and life. While being aloof from the world, I will shed lonely sweat until the end of my life while longing for the light of nature and life (in the writer's note)

This exhibition of Sejong Collection Story is largely divided into Jeong Sang-rim Collection and artist Park Jong-yong's work exhibition. The Jeongsangrim Collection exhibition depicts △ characters (Lee Soo-eok, Jang Yi-seok, Park Young-sun, Lim Sang-soon, Choi Young-rim, Kim Heung-soo, Nam Kwan) △ nature (Kim Doo-hwan, Park Sang-ok, Choi Ye-tae, Oh Ji-ho, Chun Chil-bong, Kwon Ok-yeon, Byun Jong-ha, Yoon Joong-sik, Lee Lim, Lee Ik-deok, Lee Ik-deok, Lee Ik-han, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee, Lee.

Artist Park Jong-young's Special Exhibition is the biggest feature of this exhibition and is attracting a lot of attention. Painter Park expresses the nature (truth) of nature and the universe in different themes and styles through various materials, inspiration, and meditation in the formative language of "Gyeol."

Painter Park's abstract painting symbolizes nature's "grain" by drawing a "dots. The material also contains the physical properties of "grain" by filtering the soil finely on the harness and mixing it with glue to fill the screen with dots on the canvas or harness.

The "pure" that can be said to be the basis of "Gyeol" painting contains the implications of the new realism, which can be said to be the beginning of Korean abstract art, or monochromatic painting, which is considered the most Korean painting.

In addition, "Purity" works appeared briefly in the early 1910s, but they are also in contact with Mallevic's absolutist painting, which had a profound influence on contemporary abstract art, and the world of Reinhardt's works, which were the novelty of American abstract painting.

The simple form and thechromatic screen expressing the "pure sense beyond nature" that Malevich declared "absolute" are similar as a result of being an expression of the pure sense of nature that artist Park wants to say.

Reinhardt was desperate for the catastrophic aspect of American cultural civilization in the 1950s and 1970s and found a breakthrough in Eastern thought and spirit, and his black painting resembles the oriental spirituality contained in artist Park's abstract painting.

Saekchae Obanggyeol is a traditional Korean color and a work of five basic colors: blue, red, yellow, white, and black, which are directly related to each energy of yin and yang five elements, and contains the principle of deep nature.

The "Occupational Resolution," in which the formative will to unravel the original source of the universe is expressed, can be said to be the determination of "purity" in which the existing "resolution" has been rapidly developed.

Painter Park says of "Occupational (Occupational) grain," "As a result of struggling with the creation of unrivaled resolutions in the process of creating various resolutions, such as color (mainly five colors) grain from pure grain, we created a so-called "round and return resolutions."

As he explained, "Occupational (Occupational) Crystal" is an original work that is difficult to find in the existing art, and along with "The Light of Resolution," it is a driving force to breathe eternal vitality into artist Park's art world.

The "resolution light" created through various art experiments and observing the intensity and contrast of light and refraction is a type that is difficult to find in the history of world art.

As seen in the example of Impressionist Claude Monena video artist Baek Nam-joon and Japanese Mono pioneer Kwak In-sik, Light was a major factor in leaping the level of modern and contemporary art. Painter Park's "Light of Resolution" has transformed light that has never existed before into original art.

Philosopher Hegel said, "Light is a 'universal person who individualizes others, the date of producing diversity', which reveals all substances." Painter Park's sublimation of "resolution art" into "resolution light" created by light after exploring the nature of the universe (nature) contains something in common in terms of "space = universal (absolute)."

Painter Park's exhibition works share the significance of art history and the implications of the times of the accompanying exhibition, Jeong Sang-rim Collection.

Artistic works reminiscent of Kim Hwan-ki, the pioneer of Korean abstract art, the omnidirectional work of Kwon Ok-yeon, Kim Heung-soo, Namgwan, and Choi Young-rim, who led the monochrome craze in the 1970s, and the oriental spirit inherent in Lee Eung-ro and Ha In-du.

Painter Park plans to continue his lifelong artistic companion, Chairman Jeong Sang-rim, and at the same time, expand the Baekgong Museum of Art and create museums and sculpture parks.

Sejong Collector Story, which ends on the 28th of this month, is not only a temporary exhibition, but also a start of a new and eternal artistic accompaniment.
