안동의료원 안과 ‘백내장 수술 6,000례 달성’

이는 지난 2월23일 최영호 안과과장(진료처장)이 서 모 씨(72세, 여)의 백내장 수술을 성공적으로 마치면서 이뤄졌다.

이는 코로나 상황임에도 불구하고 5,000례(2019년 7월) 달성 이후 1년 7개월 만에 이룬 성과로 그 의미가 크다.

이윤식 안동의료원장은 ‘코로나 19 감염병전담병원 지정으로 외래 진료 중단 후 비상운영을 하는 상황에서도 최영호 안과과장의 백내장 수술에 대한 환자들의 신뢰가 깊어 좋은 성과를 낼 수 있었던 것으로 보인다’고 전했다.

흔히 백내장은 노인성 질환이라고 생각한다. 하지만 디지털 기기의 잦은 사용과 컴퓨터 작업 시간이 증가함에 따라 눈의 피로가 급격하게 올라가 2030세대에서도 백내장 환자가 꾸준히 늘고 있어 주의가 필요하다.

안동의료원은 지난해‘백내장·녹내장 클리닉’강화를 위해 후발성 백내장의 효과적인 치료를 위한 야그(YAG) 레이저 및 시신경의 상태를 확인하는 안저카메라 등 최신 장비 도입을 완료하였으며 최신식 빛간섭단층촬영(OCT) 장비를 이용해서 3G로 녹내장 정밀 검사 및 시신경 변화를 조기 발견할 수 있고 3D로 당뇨망막증 고혈압성 망막증, 황반 질환 및 맥락막 질환 여부 검사를 진행할 수 있다고 한다.

최영호 안과과장은 “모든 안과에서 백내장 수술을 무조건 권하지 않는다. 우선 면밀한 검사를 통해서 안구질환에 대한 유무가 있는지 전문의와 충분한 상담을 할 필요가 있다.”라고 말하며
