성주소방서에 따르면 이번 검사는 소방공무원의 근무특성상 소방공무원 중에도 숨은 감염자가 있을 수 있기 때문에 이번 선제 검사를 통해 혹시 모를 소방현장활동 및 행정상의 공백을 방지하기 위해 실시됐다.
소방서 관계자는 “소방기관에서의 코로나19 집단감염은 국민들의 안전에 직접적으로 영향을 미친다”며, “올 겨울이 코로나19 방역의 최대 고비인 만큼 선제적 대응으로 방역태세에 최선을 다 하겠다”고 말했다.
