10대그룹 2·3세 총수, 재임기간 자산 1700조 증가..이건희 ‘톱’

한국 경제 발전을 이끈 국내 10대 그룹 2‧3세 총수 경영인들의 재임 기간 중, 이들 그룹 자산 규모가 1700조 원 이상 증가한 것으로 나타났다.

 

10대 그룹의 자산 규모는 1986조 원으로 현재 한국 증시 시가총액 규모(약 1909조 원, 27일 종가기준)보다 높다.

 

재계 1위 삼성의 자산은 고 이건희 회장 재임기간 동안 790조 원 이상 늘어 10대 그룹 중에서도 가장 큰 폭으로 성장했다. 정몽구 현대차그룹 명예회장(252조 원)과 김승연 한화그룹 회장(206조 원), 최태원 SK그룹 회장(191조 원) 등도 재임기간 자산을 100조 원 이상 늘렸다.

 

28일 CEO스코어에 따르면 10대 그룹 2~3세대 총수 회장 재임 기간 동안의 그룹 자산 및 매출 변화를 조사한 결과, 각각 713.8%(1742조 원), 411.6%(865조 원) 증가한 것으로 집계됐다. 자산은 244조 원에서 1986조 원, 매출은 210조 원에서 1075조 원으로 늘었다.

 

각 그룹 조사대상 2~3세 총수는 △고 이건희 삼성전자 회장(1987년) △정몽구 현대차그룹 명예회장(2000년) △최태원 SK그룹 회장(1998년) △고 구본무 LG그룹 회장(1995년) △신동빈 롯데그룹 회장(2011년) △김승연 한화그룹 회장(1981년) △허창수 GS그룹 명예회장(2004년) △정몽준 현대아산재단 이사장(2002년, 현대증공업그룹 최대주주) △이명희 신세계그룹 회장(1998년) △이재현 CJ그룹 회장(2002년) 등이다.(괄호 안은 취임 연도)

 

이건희 회장과 구몬부 회장은 별세했으며, 정몽구 명예회장과 허창수 명예회장은 회장에서 물러났다. 2~3세 총수 중 그룹 회장을 맡고 있는 것은 최태원 회장과 김승연 회장, 이명희 회장, 이재현 회장이다. 정몽준 이사장은 그룹 최대주주이지만 경영에 참여하고 있지 않다.

 

자산 규모는 삼성이 이건희 회장 재임 기간 중 가장 많이 늘었다. 대한민국을 대표하는 삼성도 이 회장 취임 첫해인 1987년 자산이 10조 원 수준이었지만 2019년 803조 원으로 793조 원(7620.3%) 증가했다. 계열사 수도 37곳에서 59곳으로 22곳 늘었다.

 

이 회장은 IT 산업의 모태인 반도체를 시작으로 가전, 휴대폰 등에서 삼성을 글로벌 1위 자리에 올려놓으며 대한민국 IT강국의 초석을 마련했다.

 

이어 정몽구 현대차그룹 명예회장이 2000년 현대그룹에서 현대차그룹을 분리한 뒤 20여년 만에 자산 규모 38조 원에서 290조 원의 그룹으로 키웠다.

 

정 명예회장은 현대차그룹을 ‘쇳물에서 자동차까지’로 통하는 수직계열화를 완성했고, 적극적인 해외 진출을 통해 생산량 기준 전 세계 톱5의 글로벌 자동차 메이커로 성장시켰다.

 

이어 김승연 한화그룹 회장이 1981년 취임한 이후 지난해까지 206조 원, 최태원 SK그룹 회장이 1998년 이후 191조 원씩 자산을 확대했다. 김승연 회장과 최태원 회장은 M&A를 통해 그룹 덩치를 키운 경우다.

 

김승연 회장은 취임 초기 한국다우케미칼과 한양화학, 대한생명, 명성콘도 등을 인수하며 화학과 보험, 레저 분야를 대표하는 기업으로 성장시켰고 2014년에는 삼성테크윈, 삼성종합화학 등 삼성 계열사 4곳을 인수합병했다.

 

최태원 회장 역시 M&A 승부사로 통한다. 대표적으로 반도체 미래를 내다본 하이닉스 인수로 글로벌 반도체 기업인 SK하이닉스를 만들었고 최근에는 약 10조 원 규모의 인텔 낸드 사업부문을 인수한다고 밝혔다.

 

고 구본무 LG그룹 회장이 취임 전년인 1994년부터 작고 직전 2017년 사이 LG그룹의 자산은 28조 원에서 123조 원으로 95조 원(339.7%) 커졌다.
 
정몽준 이사장이 최대주주로 있는 현대중공업그룹의 경우 현대그룹에서 분리된 2002년(11조 원) 이후 지난해 63조 원으로 52조 원(498.1%)이 늘었다. 허창수 GS그룹 명예회장 48조 원(256.6%), 이명희 신세계그룹 회장 41조 원(1498.0%), 신동빈 롯데그룹 회장 33조 원(34.8%), 이재현 CJ그룹 회장 30조 원(611.5%) 등의 순으로 자산 규모가 커졌다.

 

매출 역시 이건희 회장이 가장 많이 끌어올렸다. 취임 첫해 10조 원이었던 삼성의 매출은 지난해 315조 원으로 305조 원(3076.9%) 증가했다.
