- Reporter Park Jeong-dae
In a press release dated October 3, the organizers of the ‘2026 Proud Korean Awards’ announced that poet Jang Man-ho received the Grand Prize in the poetry category at the awards ceremony held on October 2 at the Press Club on the 20th floor of the Korea Press Center in Seoul.
According to the release, the ‘Proud Korean Awards’ honor individuals who have contributed to social progress by faithfully fulfilling their roles in various fields, including politics, economics, society, culture, and the arts. Throughout his career, Poet Jang has dedicated himself to writing and reciting poetry, infusing his work with the simple scenes of everyday life, the joys and sorrows of the human experience, and a warm perspective on people. Notably, he has gone beyond mere writing to actively engage with readers through poetry recitations, striving to make literature more accessible to the public.
In his acceptance speech, Poet Jang remarked, "Rather than the joy of receiving the award, I feel a sense of responsibility to write even better poetry in the future." He added, "I will listen to the voices from the humbler corners of life and write poems that linger in people's hearts for a long time."
The organizers of the ‘2026 Proud Korean Awards’ stated, "This award marks a meaningful milestone in his literary journey—a path where he has connected with people and the world through each and every poem."
