KEPCO KDN Partners with EXEX and N-Call AI on AI-Driven Intelligent Energy Safety and Data-Based New Businesses
Strengthening electrical safety for individual households and developing new business models based on energy data; maximizing synergy by integrating arc monitoring technology, Edge AI, and City-EMS; committed to smart city projects and pioneering new markets for low-voltage consumers domestically and abroad.
(Naju = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = KEPCO KDN, a public enterprise specializing in energy ICT, announced on September 30 that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with EXEX and N-Call AI to pursue new business initiatives in AI-based intelligent energy safety and data.
This agreement aims to go beyond simple energy efficiency in smart cities; it seeks to enhance electrical safety for individual households—utilizing features like arc monitoring in smart distribution boards within Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) and Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS)—and to establish an intelligent energy management framework that leverages household energy usage data. The three companies plan to pioneer new business models and service areas by combining their respective technologies and capabilities.
Officials, including Park Jong-hyun (Head of New Business Development at KEPCO KDN), Yoo Chang-hyun (CEO of EXEX), and Choi Myeong-in (CEO of N-Call AI), attended the signing ceremony to discuss the significance of the agreement and future implementation plans.
Under this agreement, KEPCO KDN will take the lead in establishing and managing systems for the collection, analysis, and utilization of electrical energy data, as well as driving new business initiatives by providing information to consumers and relevant agencies. EJEX plans to expand the development and supply of AI-based arc fault circuit interrupters (AFCIs) and smart distribution boards, while also developing technologies to integrate with power demand response (DR) initiatives. N-Call AI intends to focus on developing AI-based technologies for energy data analysis, forecasting, diagnostics, and optimal operation, as well as building intelligent software linked to wall pads and an integrated operation platform.
This collaboration is particularly significant for its potential to create synergies and advance smart city energy management systems by integrating and converging three key elements: EJEX’s arc fault interruption and digital transformation (DX) technologies via smart distribution boards; N-Call AI’s Edge AI technology for the efficient processing and AI-driven analysis (AX) of massive, real-time energy data; and KEPCO KDN’s urban energy management capabilities (City-EMS).
The three companies plan to continue discussing specific collaborative tasks to concretize the field application of relevant technologies and the launch of new business ventures. In particular, they aim to actively cooperate on identifying new smart energy business models that link city-level energy management with household-level energy safety, while applying their combined technologies and solutions to smart energy projects—such as those led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
A KEPCO KDN official emphasized, "This agreement is significant as it combines the technologies and capabilities of each company to pioneer a new energy service sector that goes beyond mere energy efficiency to enhance electrical safety in individual households." The official added, "By effectively converging our respective strengths, we will continuously identify opportunities for data-driven new businesses and energy safety services that citizens can truly experience, thereby leading an energy industry that benefits the public."
