This victory marks the first men's basketball gold medal in 12 years, following the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
The achievement is particularly significant as it represents the first gold medal won in an away game in 44 years, dating back to the 1982 New Delhi Asian Games.
Lee Jung-hyun, playing a pivotal role as the team's key guard, contributed to the victory by recording 14 points and 7 assists in the final match. Lee Jung-hyun, who served as the core of the national team's offense through bold drives, accurate perimeter shooting, and steady game management, played a pivotal role throughout the tournament and contributed to the team's gold medal victory.
This gold medal holds special significance for Goyang City, particularly as Lee serves as a sports ambassador for the city while playing for the Goyang Sono Skygunners.

On September 29, competing in the women's +86kg category at the Nagoya Trade & Industry Center, Park won the silver medal with a total lift of 300kg—comprising 133kg in the snatch and 167kg in the clean and jerk.

Having previously won gold at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Park is cementing her status as the leading athlete in South Korean women's heavyweight weightlifting by consistently winning medals at major international competitions.
She is highly acclaimed for having once again proven her competitive edge at this tournament by setting new national records in addition to winning a medal.
Goyang Special City Mayor Min Kyung-sun congratulated both athletes on their medal wins and shared the joy with the citizens of Goyang.
