상주시는 7일부터 17일까지 11일 동안 상주실내체육관 신관과 구관에서 ‘2026 배드민턴 국가대표 후보선수 하계합숙훈련’이 진행된다고 밝혔다.
이번 합숙에는 국가대표 후보선수와 지도자들이 참여해 체력과 경기 기술을 점검하고 실전 대응력을 높이기 위한 훈련을 이어간다. 훈련 기간 동안 선수들은 경기력을 끌어올리는 데 필요한 체력 강화와 기술·전술 훈련을 집중적으로 진행할 예정이다.
상주시는 지난해에 이어 올해도 국가대표 후보선수단의 하계 합숙훈련을 유치하면서 전문 체육시설을 활용한 전지훈련지로서 입지를 넓혀가고 있다.
실내체육관을 비롯한 지역 체육시설과 비교적 안정적인 훈련 여건을 바탕으로 국가대표 선수단뿐 아니라 실업팀과 학생선수들의 전지훈련도 꾸준히 유치하고 있다는 게 상주시의 설명이다.
훈련단이 11일간 상주에 머물면서 숙박시설과 음식점 등을 이용하는 만큼 체육 분야를 통한 지역경제 활성화에도 도움이 될 것으로 시는 내다보고 있다.
상주시는 이번 합숙훈련을 계기로 스포츠 인프라를 활용한 대회와 전지훈련 유치에 더욱 힘을 싣는다는 방침이다. 다양한 종목의 선수단을 유치해 지역 체육 활성화와 함께 스포츠 관광 및 지역경제로 효과를 확장한다는 구상이다.
