이재명 대통령이 16일 삼성전자·SK하이닉스 등의 호남반도체 클러스터 투자계획 발표를 둘러싼 갖은 논란에 대해 "무슨 공기업 설립하는 그런 문제가 아니며 여기 나눠주고 저기 한개 하고 저기도 좀 섭섭해 하니 하나 넣어갖고 할 수 있는게 아니다"고 반박했다.
이 대통령은 이날 오후 청와대에서 열린 과학기술·사회 관계부처 업무보고에서 이같이 반박 후 "일반 시민들은 다른 데 저렇게 더 많이 하고 우리는 이거밖에 안돼 생각할 수 있다"며 "책임있는 이들이 무슨 이상한 소리를 하는 건 정말 문제며 삼성·SK가 경제 원리에 따라 기업 운명을 걸고 정책적 결단을 하는 것"이라고 주장했다.
그러면서 "실현 불가능한 얘기를 해 사람들을 더 섭섭하게 만들면 무슨 해결책이 나오냐"며 "상황을 더 나쁘게 만들며 그런 걸 무책임이라 그런다"고 했다.
또 "공직자 제1위 덕목은 책임지는 것이며 권한을 가졌기에 권한을 행사할 수 있는 만큼 또는 행사한 만큼 책임을 져야 되는 것"이라며 "책임지지도 못할 얘기를 누구 기분 좋으라고 막 해놓고 나중에 더 나쁜 상황을 만드는 게 가장 나쁜 행동"이라고 했다.
이어 국토교통부(행정중심복합도시건설청·새만금개발청)·농림축산식품부(농촌진흥청·산림청)·해양수산부(해양경찰청) 대상 업무보고에서 "현대차 투자 내역도 사실은 엄청난 대규모"라며 "그런데 여기서 9조 원이 투자된다 하다 다른 데서 800조 원 투자 얘기 나오니 이게 뭐야라 생각하는 경향이 생긴 것 같다"고 했다.
