【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=대한민국 배구 유망주들이 한자리에 모여 열띤 경쟁을 펼친 전국 단위 배구대회가 옥천군에서 성공적으로 마무리됐다. 군은 지난 6일부터 13일까지 7일 동안 옥천체육센터 일원에서 열린 제59회 대통령배 전국 남녀 중·고배구대회가 성황리에 막을 내렸다고 밝혔다.
한국중·고배구연맹이 주최하고 옥천군배구협회가 주관한 이번 대회에는 전국의 중·고등학교 배구단이 대거 참가해 수준 높은 명승부를 선보였다. 특히 선수단과 임원을 비롯해 학부모와 배구 관계자 등 1,000여 명이 넘는 인원이 대회 기간 옥천군에 머무르면서 지역 내 숙박업소와 음식점, 전통시장 등이 활기를 띠었고, 이에 따라 스포츠마케팅을 통한 지역 경제 활성화 효과도 톡톡히 증명됐다.
