의성군은 윤필재 선수가 지난 11일 충북 보은국민체육센터에서 열린 ‘위더스제약 2026 보은단오장사씨름대회’ 태백급(80kg 이하) 경기에서 우승을 차지했다고 밝혔다.
윤 선수는 태백장사 결정전에서 김진용(영월군청) 선수를 상대로 3대 1 승리를 거두며 우승을 확정했다.
이번 대회에서 윤필재 선수는 안정적인 경기력을 바탕으로 결승까지 순항했다. 8강에서는 최이건(울주군청) 선수를 2대 0으로 제압했고, 4강에서는 이은수(영암군민속씨름단) 선수를 2대 1로 꺾고 결승 무대에 올랐다.
결승전에서도 특유의 공격적인 기술과 풍부한 경기 경험을 앞세워 경기를 주도하며 태백장사 꽃가마에 다시 올랐다.
윤필재 선수는 꾸준한 훈련과 철저한 자기관리를 바탕으로 국내 태백급 최정상급 선수로 활약해 왔으며, 이번 우승으로 정상급 기량을 다시 한번 입증했다는 평가를 받고 있다.
의성군청마늘씨름단은 이번 대회에서 또 다른 성과도 거뒀다. 한라급(105kg 이하)에 출전한 최성환 선수가 준결승에 진출하며 경쟁력을 보여줬다. 최 선수는 4강전에서 김무호(울주군청) 선수와 접전을 펼쳤으나 1대 2로 아쉽게 패해 결승 진출에는 실패했다.
윤필재 선수는 “늘 응원해 주시는 씨름 팬들과 군민들께 감사드린다”며 “앞으로도 의성군청마늘씨름단의 명성에 걸맞은 경기력을 보여드릴 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
이어 “선수단을 위해 아낌없는 지원을 보내주신 의성군과 지도자들에게도 감사드린다”고 덧붙였다.
김주수 의성군수는 “윤필재 선수의 태백장사 등극을 축하한다”며 “이번 우승이 의성군이 씨름 명가로서의 위상을 더욱 높이는 계기가 되길 바란다. 앞으로도 선수단이 좋은 성과를 이어갈 수 있도록 지원을 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Yun Pil-jae of the Uiseong County Office Garlic Wrestling Team ascended to the top at the Boeun Dano Jangsa Wrestling Tournament, securing his 15th career Taebaek Jangsa title.
Uiseong County announced that Yun Pil-jae won the Taebaek class (under 80kg) at the ‘Withus Pharmaceutical 2026 Boeun Dano Jangsa Wrestling Tournament,’ held on the 11th at the Boeun National Sports Center in North Chungcheong Province.
Yun secured the championship by defeating Kim Jin-yong (Yeongwol County Office) 3-1 in the Taebaek Jangsa final.
Throughout the tournament, Yun Pil-jae cruised to the finals based on his stable performance. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Choi Yi-geon (Ulju County Office) 2-0, and in the semifinals, he beat Lee Eun-su (Yeongam County Folk Wrestling Team) 2-1 to advance to the finals.
In the finals, he dominated the match by leveraging his signature aggressive techniques and extensive match experience, once again ascending the palanquin of the Taebaek Jangsa title.
Based on consistent training and rigorous self-management, Yoon Pil-jae has been active as a top-tier Taebaek-class wrestler in Korea, and this victory is being evaluated as proof of his top-level skills once again.

Choi Seong-hwan, competing in the Halla-class (under 105kg), demonstrated his competitiveness by advancing to the semifinals. Although Choi engaged in a close match against Kim Mu-ho (Ulju County Office) in the semifinals, he unfortunately lost 1-2, failing to advance to the finals.
