대구광역시 북구는 오는 6월 12일부터 칠곡시장에서 ‘2026 북중미 월드컵 대한민국 대표팀 응원전’을 운영한다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 문화관광형시장 육성사업의 하나로 추진되며, ‘오매! 골 들어가매’를 주제로 시장 상인과 주민, 방문객이 함께 대한민국 축구대표팀을 응원하는 참여형 프로그램으로 진행된다.
응원전은 대표팀 경기 일정에 맞춰 마련된다. 체코전이 열리는 6월 12일 오전 11시를 시작으로, 6월 19일 오전 10시 멕시코전, 6월 25일 오전 10시 남아프리카공화국전 경기 때마다 시장 내 특설 응원 공간에서 시민들이 함께 경기를 관람할 수 있다.
행사 기간에는 다양한 참여 프로그램도 운영된다. 경기 결과를 예측하는 이벤트를 비롯해 시장 상인이 직접 참여하는 ‘100원 경매’, 온누리상품권 증정 행사 등이 마련돼 방문객들의 관심을 모을 예정이다.
가족 단위 방문객을 위한 체험 프로그램도 준비된다. 페이스페인팅과 즉석 퀴즈, 시민 노래자랑 등 다양한 즐길 거리가 운영돼 응원전의 분위기를 더욱 풍성하게 만들 전망이다.
관람객 편의를 위한 지원도 제공된다. 아이스크림과 생수, 응원봉, 쿨스카프 등 응원 물품을 무료로 배부하며, 보다 편안한 관람을 위해 휴게 공간도 함께 운영할 계획이다.
배광식 북구청장은 “전통시장과 지역 주민이 함께 어우러질 수 있는 축제의 장을 마련했다”며 “많은 시민들이 시장을 찾아 응원과 문화행사를 즐기고, 지역 상권에도 활력을 불어넣는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
