<브레이크뉴스 포천 = 이용하 기자> 포천시종합사회복지관이 경계선 지능 등으로 학업과 일상에 어려움을 겪는 '느린학습자' 아동들의 건강한 성장을 돕기 위해 특별한 동행을 시작했다.
복지관은 관내 느린학습자 아동의 정서적 안정과 인지능력 향상을 지원하기 위한 맞춤형 프로그램 ‘우리아이 성장동행 성.장.통(이하 성장통)’을 오는 7월 13일까지 본격 운영한다고 4일 밝혔다.
이번 프로그램은 추산초등학교 교육복지사와의 긴밀한 사전 협의를 거쳐 마련됐다. 복지관과 학교는 느린학습자 아동을 위한 전문적 지원의 필요성에 깊이 공감하고, 긴밀한 협조 체계를 구축해 참여 아동 모집 등 원활한 운영 기반을 다졌다.

‘성장통’ 프로그램은 아동들이 직접 토마토를 재배하는 과정을 통해 책임감과 성취감을 기를 수 있도록 구성됐다. 식물을 직접 심고 가꾸며 정서적 안정을 얻는 것은 물론, 자라는 과정을 관찰하며 집중력 등 인지능력을 자연스럽게 키우는 데 목적을 뒀다.
첫 회기에 참여한 아동들은 다 함께 모여 자기소개를 나누며 서먹함을 깨고, 직접 흙을 만지며 토마토 모종을 심는 활동을 진행했다. 프로그램에 참여한 한 아동은 “내가 심은 토마토에 멋진 열매가 맺히도록 매일 정성껏 열심히 키우겠다”며 기대감을 드러냈다.
