국립금오공과대학교는 4일 대학 본관 총장실에서 램리서치코리아와 산학협력 활성화 및 반도체 분야 인재 양성을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이날 협약식에는 김상호 국립금오공과대학교 총장과 박준홍 램리서치코리아 한국법인 총괄 대표이사를 비롯해 이서영 상무, 이현권 경북·구미반도체특화단지추진단장, 이광희 국립금오공대 대학원장, 이상효 반도체특성화대학사업단장 등 양 기관 주요 관계자들이 참석했다.
최근 인공지능(AI)과 첨단 반도체 기술 수요가 급증하면서 산업 현장에서는 실무 능력을 갖춘 전문 인재 확보가 중요한 과제로 떠오르고 있다. 이번 협약은 이러한 산업 환경 변화에 대응하고 대학과 기업 간 협력을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다.
양 기관은 앞으로 산학협력 기반 교육과 공동 연구를 확대하고, 현장 중심의 실무형 인재 양성 프로그램을 추진할 계획이다. 또한 반도체 분야 스타트업 육성과 기술 혁신 생태계 조성에도 협력하기로 했다.
특히 국립금오공대가 위치한 구미는 반도체 산업 관련 기업들이 집적된 지역으로, 이번 협약이 지역 산업 경쟁력 강화와 반도체 전문인력 공급 확대에도 긍정적인 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.
램리서치코리아는 반도체 제조 장비 분야의 글로벌 기업으로, 반도체 공정 기술과 산업 현장 경험을 바탕으로 대학과의 협력을 확대해 나갈 방침이다.
박준홍 램리서치코리아 한국법인 총괄 대표이사는 “AI와 반도체 산업이 빠르게 융합되면서 현장에서 요구하는 전문성을 갖춘 인재 확보가 더욱 중요해지고 있다”며 “이번 협약을 계기로 대학과의 협력을 강화하고 미래 반도체 산업을 이끌 인재 양성에 적극 기여하겠다”고 말했다.
김상호 국립금오공과대학교 총장은 “첨단 산업 분야에서 실무형 인재 수요가 지속적으로 증가하고 있다”며 “램리서치코리아와의 협력을 통해 학생들에게 보다 폭넓은 교육과 연구 기회를 제공하고 산업 현장에 즉시 투입 가능한 경쟁력 있는 인재를 육성하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 양 기관은 이번 업무협약을 계기로 산학협력 네트워크를 확대하고 반도체 산업 발전과 지역 인재 양성을 위한 다양한 협력 사업을 지속적으로 추진할 예정이다.

Kumoh National Institute of Technology announced on the 4th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Lam Research Korea at the President's office in the university's main building to revitalize industry-academia cooperation and cultivate talent in the semiconductor field.
Key officials from both institutions attended the signing ceremony, including Kumoh National Institute of Technology President Kim Sang-ho, Lam Research Korea CEO Park Jun-hong, Managing Director Lee Seo-young, Gyeongbuk-Gumi Semiconductor Specialization Complex Promotion Team Leader Lee Hyun-kwon, Kumoh National Institute of Technology Graduate School Dean Lee Kwang-hee, and Semiconductor Specialization University Project Director Lee Sang-hyo. With the recent surge in demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced semiconductor technology, securing skilled professionals with practical capabilities has emerged as a critical challenge for the industrial sector. This agreement was established to respond to these changes in the industrial environment and to strengthen cooperation between the university and companies.
Going forward, both institutions plan to expand education and joint research based on industry-academia collaboration, and to promote field-oriented, practical talent training programs. They also agreed to cooperate in fostering semiconductor startups and creating a technology innovation ecosystem.
In particular, Gumi, where Kumoh National Institute of Technology is located, is a region with a high concentration of semiconductor industry-related companies; this agreement is expected to play a positive role in strengthening regional industrial competitiveness and expanding the supply of specialized semiconductor personnel.
Lam Research Korea, a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, plans to expand its cooperation with the university based on its semiconductor process technology and industry experience. Park Jun-hong, General Manager of Lam Research Korea, stated, “As the AI and semiconductor industries rapidly converge, securing talent equipped with the expertise required by the field is becoming increasingly important.” He added, “Through this agreement, we will strengthen cooperation with universities and actively contribute to fostering talent that will lead the future semiconductor industry.”
Kim Sang-ho, President of Kumoh National Institute of Technology, remarked, “The demand for practical talent in advanced industrial sectors is continuously increasing.” He further stated, “Through cooperation with Lam Research Korea, we will do our utmost to provide students with broader educational and research opportunities and to cultivate competitive talent capable of immediate deployment to the industrial field.”
Meanwhile, building on this MOU, both institutions plan to expand their industry-academia cooperation network and continuously pursue various collaborative projects aimed at the development of the semiconductor industry and the nurturing of local talent.
