[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] LIV 골프 코리아 첫날 경기에서 한국의 문도엽과 송영한이 홈 팬들의 뜨거운 응원에 힘입어 성공적인 데뷔전을 치렀다.
코리안 골프 클럽 역시 시즌 최고의 경기력을 선보였다. 송영한과 새롭게 합류한 문도엽이 68타를 기록하며 공동 11위 그룹에 합류했고, 팀 역시 합계 3언더파로 공동 5위에 자리했다.
이들은 낯선 경기 방식과 까다로운 코스 조건 속에서도 홈어드밴티지를 십분 활용하며 안정적인 경기를 펼쳤다. 특히 부산 아시아드 컨트리클럽의 단단한 그린에 빠르게 적응하며 남은 라운드에 대한 기대감을 높였다.

Q: 리브 골프 데뷔전을 치른 소감은 어떠한가?
A) 리브 골프 대회를 처음 경험하다 보니 다소 생소한 부분들이 있었다. 스코어카드를 받는 위치나 샷건 방식으로 인해 중간 홀에서 경기를 시작하는 것 등이 이색적인 경험이었다. 초반에는 긴장감이 있었으나 경기장에 흐르는 음악 덕분에 긴장이 풀렸다. 결과적으로 즐겁게 경기에 임한 것이 오늘 좋은 성적으로 이어졌다.
Q: 홈팬들의 응원을 받으며 경기를 치른 소회는 어떠한가?
A) 한국에서 리브 골프가 개최되면 어떨까 자주 상상했는데, 예상보다 현장 반응이 훨씬 뜨거웠고 한국 골프 문화와도 잘 어우러진다는 인상을 받았다. 해외 대회에서는 알아보는 이가 적어 외로울 때가 있는데, 홈그라운드에서 많은 분들의 응원을 받으니 감회가 새로웠다. 오랜만에 국내에서 치르는 경기인 만큼 초반에는 분위기 적응에 신경을 썼다. 해외 코스와 비교해 잔디 성질이 다르고 그린도 빨라 까다로웠지만, 경기를 잘 풀어내며 기분 좋은 출발을 했다.
Q: 과거 아시아드CC 대회 경험과 비교했을 때 코스 컨디션의 차이점은 무엇인가?
A) 코스 구성 면에서는 당시 치르지 않았던 9개 홀이 포함되었다는 차이가 있다. 직접 경험해보니 페어웨이와 그린 주변, 그리고 그린 자체가 과거보다 훨씬 단단해졌다는 느낌을 받았다. 특히 연습 라운드 때부터 그린 주변이 딱딱하다는 점을 인지하고 이에 적응하는 데 집중했다. 다행히 과거 경험이 있는 9개 홀에서는 코스를 이미 숙지하고 있었던 점이 이점으로 작용했다. 또한 홈어드밴티지가 분명히 존재했으며, 한국 팬들의 열성적인 응원이 큰 힘이 됐다.
Q: 홈경기가 성적에 대한 부담으로 다가오는지, 아니면 동기부여가 되는지 궁금하다.
A) 올해 호주 등 홈그라운드에서 경기를 치른 팀들의 성적이 대체로 우수했다. 그래서 선수들끼리 농담 삼아 우리도 잘해야 한다는 부담감이 생기지 않을까 걱정하기도 했다. 실제로 한국에서 경기를 해보니 어느 정도 부담이 있는 것은 사실이다. 그러나 이를 단순한 스트레스보다는 책임감으로 승화시켜 더 좋은 경기력을 보여주겠다는 각오를 다지게 됐다. 남은 일정 동안 날씨가 좋아 많은 갤러리분들이 방문해주실 것으로 기대하며, 팬들의 응원에 힘입어 팀원 4명 모두 합심해 좋은 경기를 펼치겠다.
Q: 11번 홀에서 기록한 장타의 비결과 당시의 감각은 어떠했는가?
A) 긴장된 상태에서 맞이한 첫 홀 티샷이었다. 마침 뒷바람이 불어준 데다 긴장감으로 인해 아드레날린이 분비되면서 공이 평소보다 멀리 비행한 것 같다. 다만 동반 플레이어의 샷이 러프에 떨어지긴 했으나 나보다 더 멀리 나갔기 때문에, 내 샷이 가장 멀리 갔다고 보기는 어렵다.
Q: 오늘 홈그라운드에서 국내 팬들을 마주하며 느낀 점을 총평해달라.
A) 문도엽: 안방에서 생애 첫 리브 골프 대회를 치를 수 있게 되어 매우 영광스럽게 생각한다. 첫 무대가 한국이었기에 오히려 긴장을 덜고 편안한 마음으로 경기에 몰입할 수 있었다. 응원해주신 많은 팬분들께 진심으로 감사드리며, 남은 3일 동안도 집중력을 유지하며 경기를 즐기겠다.
A) 송영한: 올해 호주 대회 당시 구름 관중이 몰렸던 모습이 깊은 인상으로 남아있다. 이번 대회가 열리는 부산 역시 지역 특성상 팬들의 성향이 매우 열정적이고 뜨겁기 때문에 홈팬들의 응원에 대한 기대가 크다. 주말 동안 우리 팀의 활약뿐만 아니라, 얼마나 많은 갤러리분들이 방문하여 뜨거운 함성을 보내주실지 개인적으로도 무척 기대된다.

On the opening day of LIV Golf Korea, South Korea's Do-yeob Mun and Young-han Song made a successful debut, fueled by the passionate support of their home fans.
The Korean Golf Club also delivered its best performance of the season. Young-han Song and newcomer Do-yeop Mun both shot a 68 to join the group tied for 11th, while the team finished the day tied for 5th with a combined score of 3-under par.
Despite the unfamiliar tournament format and demanding course conditions, they fully capitalized on their home advantage to deliver a steady performance. In particular, they quickly adapted to the firm greens at Asiad Country Club in Busan, raising expectations for the remaining rounds.

Q: How does it feel to make your LIV Golf debut?
A) Since it was my first time experiencing a LIV Golf event, there were a few unfamiliar aspects. Receiving the scorecards in a different location and starting from a middle hole due to the shotgun start format were entirely new experiences for me. I felt quite nervous early on, but the music playing throughout the course helped ease the tension. In the end, being able to genuinely enjoy the round led to a great result today.
Q: What are your thoughts on playing in front of your home fans?
A) I used to imagine what it would be like to have a LIV Golf event in Korea, and the actual response has been far more passionate than I ever anticipated. It feels like a perfect fit for Korean golf culture. When playing abroad, it can get lonely because few people recognize or cheer for you, but receiving such incredible support on home soil makes this a truly special experience. Since it has been a while since I last competed in Korea, I focused heavily on adjusting to the atmosphere early on. The grass conditions are different from overseas courses, and the greens are quite fast and challenging, but I managed to navigate the course well and get off to a strong start.
Q: Compared to your past experience at Asiad Country Club, what differences did you notice in the course conditions?
A) In terms of the course layout, it now includes nine holes that were not part of the tournament back then. Playing through them today, I noticed that the fairways, green surrounds, and the greens themselves feel much firmer than before. During the practice rounds, I especially noticed how hard the areas around the greens were, so I focused on adapting to that. Fortunately, already knowing the other nine holes from past experience gave me a bit of an advantage. There is also a definitive home advantage, and the passionate support from the Korean fans was a massive help.
Q: Does playing a home game put more pressure on you to perform, or does it serve as greater motivation?
A) This year, teams playing in their home countries—like the Australian team—have generally performed exceptionally well. Because of that, we jokingly worried among ourselves whether that home-team success would add extra pressure. In reality, playing in Korea does bring some pressure. However, instead of letting it become stress, I have channeled it into a sense of responsibility to deliver a better performance. With good weather expected for the rest of the week, we anticipate a lot of fans coming out to the course. Fueled by their support, the four of us will work together to put on a great show.
Q: What was the secret behind your massive drive on the 11th hole, and how did it feel?
A) It was my first tee shot of the day, so I was playing through some nerves. I think an adrenaline rush combined with a timely tailwind helped the ball carry much further than usual. That said, my playing partner's shot actually went even further than mine, despite landing in the rough, so I don't think mine was the longest drive out there.
Q: How would you sum up your experience connecting with the local fans on home soil today?
A) Do-yeob Mun: It is an absolute honor to play my very first LIV Golf tournament on home soil. Because my debut took place in Korea, I felt less nervous and was able to stay relaxed and focused on my game. I am incredibly grateful to all the fans who cheered us on, and I will stay locked in and enjoy the next three days of competition.
A) Young-han Song: The massive crowds at the Australia event earlier this year left a huge impression on me. Busan is known for its incredibly passionate and high-energy sports culture, so I am highly anticipating the energy from the home fans. I am looking forward to our team's performance this weekend, but I am equally excited to see how many fans will show up and hear the roar of the crowd.
