Anthony Kim: For the past two and a half years, I have pushed forward with a singular, unwavering goal. I am confident that if I maintain this current flow, continuous growth is guaranteed. While my recent achievements are encouraging, I believe I can deliver even better performances with higher consistency. Instead of becoming complacent, I am entering this tournament with the mindset of getting 1% better every single day.
Q. As the LIV Golf season passes its midpoint, what is your strategic approach for the second half and your primary objective for the Busan event?
Thomas Pieters: The ultimate goal is, without a doubt, a victory. While a top 10 finish in every tournament is a meaningful milestone, I now need a precise strategy to surpass my teammate, Thomas Detry, who is currently leading the pack. It is going to be an exciting competition, and I will showcase my absolute best performance through meticulous condition management.
Q. With five top-10 finishes in your debut season, how do you assess the impact of LIV’s global 'Team Golf' format on the international market and fandom?
Thomas Detry: I am enjoying a much higher level of satisfaction and focus on my game than I initially anticipated when joining the team. Thanks to focusing on refining the technical areas that fell short last winter, I have secured peak condition to compete on any stage in the world right now.
Furthermore, I can genuinely feel that the brand value of '4 Aces' is growing rapidly across the globe. Just last week in Belgium and other parts of Europe, I witnessed numerous young fans wearing our official team merchandise. The simultaneous growth of LIV Golf's infrastructure and the franchise is highly encouraging, and we plan to keep this upward momentum alive here in Busan.
Q. Given your rigorous practice regimen, what specific adjustments are you making to enhance shot consistency beyond standard technical drills?
Anthony Kim: Golf is a sport that demands endless refinement and presents constant challenges. I am currently focusing heavily on increasing the density of my mental focus during practice. For instance, out of 10 practice shots, I am trying to progressively increase the number of balls I strike with absolute, flawless immersion. While there are many micro-elements left to improve, I am certain that if I continuously discipline and push myself, I will reach the level I visualised.
Q. Are you currently targeting qualifications for the Major championships, or adjusting your schedule accordingly?
Anthony Kim: As a professional golfer, targeting the absolute highest stages, including the Majors, is a natural goal and the driving force behind my training. I am aware that there are internal tour discussions regarding format expansions, such as establishing LIV's own major-scale events, and I look forward to seeing more opportunities open up in the future.
Q. What are your thoughts on returning to compete in Korea, and how do you view your comeback story serving as an inspiration beyond the sport?
Anthony Kim: As a Korean-American, it is a tremendous honor to return to Korea on the tour schedule and stand before the domestic fans once again. While pressure regarding performance exists in every tournament, delivering the ultimate performance is the true role of a professional.
I am deeply grateful that my journey back to the game resonates with so many people. I view my hardships and the process of overcoming them as something that connects deeply with anyone facing their own limitations in daily life. I hope my challenge provides practical motivation for the public to feel that 'they can do it too.' My return was only possible because of the unwavering support of my family—my core anchor—and I will continue to play with a deep sense of responsibility and give my all in every moment.
Q. You showed rare emotion celebrating Anthony Kim's victory in Adelaide. As captain, what did that milestone mean for the team's dynamics?
Dustin Johnson: Bringing Anthony Kim on board was the absolute masterstroke of our team strategy. He has been proving his worth throughout the entire season, and his victory in Adelaide, in particular, was a monumental event that sent thrills through the entire team. Seeing his perfect resurrection gave me a deep sense of camaraderie and pride as his captain.
Q. What cultural values or lasting impressions do you hope to introduce to your daughter, Bella, during this visit to Korea?
Anthony Kim: Both my daughter and I share a profound pride in our lineage and our identity as Koreans. The grit, work ethic, and resilience I possess were entirely passed down from my mother’s immigrant generation, who carved out a life from nothing.
