[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 리브 골프(LIV Golf) 코리아 대회를 앞두고 한국 팀 선수들이 한자리에 모였다. 최근의 성적 부진과 팀 멤버 교체 등 안팎의 시선 속에서도 선수들은 홈팬들의 응원을 발판 삼아 완벽한 반전을 다짐했다.
26일 오후 부산 기장군 아시아드CC에서 열린 기자회견에는 캡틴 안병훈을 비롯해 송영한, 김민규, 그리고 이번 대회에 새롭게 합류한 문도엽이 참석했다.
다음은 이날 진행된 질의응답 주요 내용이다.
Q. 홈팬들의 응원이 팀 동기부여에 미치는 영향은?
안병훈: 한국에 와서 시합을 할 때마다 항상 많은 응원과 에너지를 얻어 좋은 성적이 났던 기억이 있다. 우리 팀의 우승 횟수가 많지 않지만 그 두 번 모두 한국에서 했다. 올해 내내 홈팬들 앞에서 경기하기를 기대해 온 만큼, 이번 주 많은 팬분이 오셔서 힘을 주시면 큰 도움이 될 것 같다.
Q. 리브 골프 첫 시즌 적응 상황과 홈팬들의 응원이 갖는 의미는?
송영한: 프로 데뷔 후 해외 투어를 많이 뛰었지만 리브를 경험해보니 일본 같은 나라는 정말 가까운 곳이었다는 생각이 들 정도로 비행이나 시차가 조금 힘들긴 하다. 하지만 시합장에 도착하면 골프를 치기에 너무나 완벽한 투어고, 훌륭한 선수들과 함께 플레이하는 것만으로도 커리어에 큰 도움이 된다.
오랜만에 고국 무대이자 핫한 도시인 부산에서 경기를 치르게 되었는데, 팀 내부적으로도 변화가 있는 만큼 같이 합심해서 전환점을 만들고 싶다. 부산 팬들의 핫한 응원을 기대한다.
Q. 한국 팬 앞에서의 경기 소감과 팀 분위기에 미칠 영향은?
김민규: 리브 시합을 하면서 너무 좋은 경험을 하고 있고, 부산에서 대회를 하게 되어 선수로서 자부심과 기대가 크다. 국내 대회만 하더라도 부산에 오면 갤러리분들이 엄청 많이 오시고 화이팅 넘치게 응원해 주신다. 그 힘을 받아 선수들이 더 좋은 플레이를 펼칠 수 있을 것이고, 좋은 성적을 낸다면 스스로도 정말 자랑스러울 것 같다.
Q. 리브 골프 데뷔전을 고국에서 치르게 된 소감과 각오는?
문도엽: 평소 알고 지내던 안병훈, 송영한, 김민규 프로가 따뜻하게 반겨주어서 너무 감사하다. 항상 TV나 SNS로만 보며 정말 출전해보고 싶었던 리브 투어에 좋은 기회로 합류하게 되어 앞으로의 시합이 너무 기대된다. 다행히 데뷔전을 한국에서 치르게 되었고, 과거에 시합을 해봤던 코스라 잔디나 코스 상태를 어느 정도 알고 있는 상태에서 플레이할 수 있어 유리할 것 같다. 재미있고 열심히 쳐보겠다.
Q. 안팎의 위기론 속에서 이번 대회를 맞는 각오는?
안병훈: 그렇다. 진짜 반전의 기회를 노리고 있다. 리브 골프 첫해인 만큼 모두가 쉽지 않은 한 해를 보내고 있어서 성적에 대해 아쉬움이 많다. 하지만 다른 팀들도 홈 경기에서 좋은 성적을 냈던 선례가 있기 때문에 우리도 그것을 기대하고 있다. 한국 선수들이다 보니 코스 셋업이나 환경 면에서 다른 선수들보다 유리한 점이 있다고 생각한다. 이번 대회를 말 그대로 반전의 기회로 삼아 남은 시합들을 잘 풀어가겠다.

Q. 문도엽 영입 배경과 멤버 교체 과정, 현재 팀 분위기는?
안병훈: 멤버 교체는 저와 저희 팀, 그리고 리브 본사가 함께 참여해 상의하고 모두 합의하에 내린 결정이다. 캡틴인 제게 독단적인 결정권이 있는 것은 아니다. 떠나게 된 멤버와는 성향도 잘 맞았고 모두의 행복을 위해 상의 끝에 나온 결과다.
결코 밀려나거나 상처를 준 것이 아니며, 서로가 잘되기를 바라는 마음이다. 새로 합류한 대니 리는 올해 워낙 성적이 좋고 제네시스 포인트 1위를 달릴 만큼 한국 선수 중 가장 골프를 잘 치고 있어 영입하게 됐다.팀 분위기가 안 좋다는 시선이 있는데 전혀 그렇지 않다.
다들 골프를 잘 치는 선수들이라 캡틴으로서 제가 팀워크를 따로 신경 쓸 필요가 없을 정도다. 리브는 단체전이면서도 개개인의 스코어가 모두 합산되어 카운트되기 때문에 책임감과 부담이 따르지만, 선수들이 부담 없이 제 실력을 발휘할 수 있도록 돕는 것이 내 역할이다. 분위기는 매우 좋다.
Q. 지난주 한국오픈 실격 당시 상황과 향후 투어 병행 계획은?
김민규: 당시 3오버파인 74타를 쳤고 저 역시 그렇게 인지하고 스코어 카드에 사인을 했다. 첫 번째 잘못은 제가 카드를 제대로 다시 읽어보지 않고 사인한 것이다. 협회 접수처에서도 처음에는 74타로 카운팅이 되었는데, 이후 호텔에 가니 전화가 와서 16번 홀이 파(Par)로 잘못 기재되어 있다고 하더라. 경기위원분이 스코어를 받아 적는 구간에도 본인이 직접 74타라고 적으셨을 만큼 양쪽 모두 착각이 있었던 상황이었다.
협회에서도 이런 경우가 처음이라 미안하다고 전해왔지만, 애초에 선수가 더 확인을 잘했어야 했다. 당시 속상한 마음에 빨리 집에 가고 싶었던 것 같다.올해 행보에 대해서는 처음 리브 투어에 뛰게 된 만큼 리브에 더 집중하고 전념하는 것이 무조건 맞다고 생각한다. 그 외에 KPGA 시합은 몸에 무리가 가지 않는 선에서 기회가 될 때 몇 개 대회 정도 더 치를 계획이다.
Q. 리브 합류 결정 계기와 향후 출전 일정은?
문도엽: 제안을 받았을 때 훌륭한 선수들과 함께 경쟁하며 많이 배워보고 싶다는 생각이 들어 고민을 오래 하지 않고 바로 가고 싶다는 의사를 밝혔다. 일정의 경우 이번 코리아 대회를 치르고 다음 주 스페인 대회까지 소화한 후, 그다음 주에 한국에서 열리는 제주도 대회에 출전할 예정이다.
Q. 슬럼프나 경기력 저하를 극복하는 자신만의 방법은?
김민규: 해외 투어를 치르면서 성적이 잘 안 풀릴 때는 원래 연습을 많이 하는 스타일이다. 공이 안 맞을 때는 연습이 답이라 생각해서 몸이 힘들더라도 감을 찾으려고 노력한다. 하지만 가끔은 그것마저 지칠 때가 있어서 최근에는 푹 쉬어보기도 하고 다양한 시도를 하고 있다.

세계 1, 2위 선수 참가… 한국팀 안병훈 등 출전
2022년 출범한 리브 골프는 높은 상금으로 존 람(’23 PGA 챔피언십 2위 등), 호아킨 니만(’25 PGA 1회 우승 등) 등 세계 정상급 선수들이 대거 출전하는 대회다. 2026 시즌은 10개국(북미·유럽·아프리카·아시아) 14개 대회로 구성되며, 총상금 약 4억2천만 달러(약 6천100억 원), 대회별 상금 3천만 달러(약 440억 원) 규모다. 한국팀은 안병훈(캡틴), 문도엽, 송영한, 김민규가 출전한다.

Embracing the intense spotlight, the players expressed unified confidence, counting on passionate home crowds to fuel a dramatic turnaround.
The press conference, held on the afternoon of May 26th at the Asiad Country Club in Gijang-gun, Busan, featured team captain Byeong Hun An, alongside Yeonghan Song, Minkyu Kim, and the team’s newly signed marquee player, Danny Lee.
Below is an edited transcript of the key questions and answers from the session.
Key Q&A: Rallied by Home Crowds and Fresh Reinforcements
Q. How does playing in front of your home fans impact the team’s motivation?
Byeong Hun An: "Every time I play in Korea, the incredible energy and support from the fans have driven me to strong finishes. While our team hasn't lifted many trophies yet, both of our victories actually happened right here in Korea. We’ve been looking forward to playing in front of our home crowd all year. If the fans show up in full force this week, it will give us a massive boost."
Q. How has your adaptation to your first LIV Golf season been, and what does this home venue mean to you?
Yeonghan Song: "I’ve spent my professional career playing on various international tours, but LIV is a different beast—the extensive travel and time zone changes make even past trips to Japan seem close by. That said, once you arrive at the venue, the setup is absolutely flawless. Competing alongside world-class talent does wonders for your career.
It’s been a while since I played in my home country, especially here in Busan, which is such a vibrant city. With the recent changes to our roster, we are determined to lock in, pull together, and make this tournament a true turning point. We are expecting some fiery energy from the Busan fans."
Q. What are your thoughts on competing in Korea, and how will it influence the team's morale?
Minkyu Kim: "Playing on the LIV Tour has been an incredible experience, and being able to compete in Busan fills me with pride and excitement. Even during domestic events, the galleries in Busan are massive and fiercely supportive. We feed off that energy to play better. Standing on the podium here would be an unforgettable, proud moment for me."
Q. How does it feel to make your LIV Golf debut in your home country, and what is your mindset?
Danny Lee: "I’m incredibly grateful to Ben (Byeong Hun), Yeonghan, and Minkyu for giving me such a warm welcome. I’ve always watched the LIV Tour on TV and social media, wishing I could be a part of it, so I’m thrilled to join the squad for the upcoming stretch. Fortunately, my debut lands in Korea on a course I’ve played before. Knowing the grass type and the layout should give me a slight edge. I'm going to have fun and leave it all out there."
Facing Roster Changes and Internal Dynamics

Q. How is the team approaching this event amidst growing whispers of an internal crisis?
Byeong Hun An: "It’s true—we are looking for a definitive breakthrough. Since this is our inaugural year in LIV Golf, everyone has had a challenging season, and we aren't satisfied with our current standings. However, we've seen other teams excel during their respective home games, and we expect to do the same. Being local players, we have a natural comfort level with the course setup and the environment. We are viewing this week as our catalyst to finish the remaining season strong."
Q. What was the background behind signing Danny Lee, how did the roster change unfold, and what is the current team chemistry?
Byeong Hun An: "The roster change was a mutual decision reached after deep consultations between myself, the team, and the LIV headquarters. As captain, I don't hold unilateral decision-making power. We had great chemistry with the departing member, and the move was finalized amicably with everyone's long-term happiness in mind.
It wasn't a matter of someone being forced out or hurt; we simply want what’s best for each other. As for Danny Lee, he has been in spectacular form this year, leading the Genesis Point standings and playing some of the best golf among Korean players right now.
There are rumors that our team atmosphere is tense, but that couldn't be further from the truth. They are all exceptionally talented pros, meaning I don't even have to micromanage team chemistry. LIV's format adds pressure because every individual score counts toward the team total, but my job is simply to ensure they feel zero burden so they can play their natural game. The vibes are excellent."
Addressing Recent Controversies and Future Outlook
Q. Can you clarify the situation surrounding your disqualification at the Korea Open last week? Also, what are your future plans regarding touring schedules?
Minkyu Kim: "At the time, I shot a 3-over 74, which is exactly what I wrote down and signed off on. My primary mistake was not double-checking the individual hole scores on the card before signing. The association’s recording desk initially logged it as a 74 as well. It wasn't until I reached my hotel room that I received a call stating that the 16th hole had been mistakenly marked as a par. Even the walking scorer had written down 74 on their personal sheet, so it was a mutual oversight.
The association expressed their regrets since they hadn't encountered a scenario like this before, but ultimately, the responsibility falls squarely on the player. I think I was just upset with my play and wanted to get home quickly that day.
Regarding my schedule, since this is my debut season with LIV, my absolute priority is to remain fully committed and focused here. Outside of LIV, I plan to selectively play a few KPGA events, provided they don't take too heavy a physical toll."
Q. What triggered your decision to join LIV, and what does your upcoming schedule look like?
Danny Lee: "When the offer came in, the prospect of testing myself and learning alongside world-class players was too good to pass up. I didn't have to deliberate long before giving them a green light. My immediate schedule includes this Korea event, followed by the tournament in Spain next week, after which I'll head back to Korea for the upcoming event in Jeju Island."
Q. How do you personally navigate slumps or a dip in form?
Minkyu Kim: "When things aren't clicking on international tours, my default response has always been to grind on the driving range. I used to believe that more practice was the only solution, even if my body was exhausted. However, hitting that wall can wear you down mentally. Lately, I've been experimenting with taking deliberate rests and trying different routines. I am still very much in the process of discovering the perfect balance between effective practice and mental recovery when the game gets tough."
