◆ 1989년 인천서 첫발…해외 4개국 거점망 구축
바돌로매지파의 행보는 신천지예수교회 창립 이후 지난 1989년 인천 부평구 지역에 신천지 복음이 전파되며 시작됐다. 당시 부천 선교센터의 형태로 첫발을 뗀 신천지 바돌로매지파는 꾸준한 규모 확장을 거쳐 왔다. 바돌로매지파는 K-종교의 글로벌 위상을 구축 했다.

신천지 바돌로매지파의 여러 현황 중 가장 눈에 띄는 지표는 ‘세대별 구성 비율’이다. 지난달 기준 신천지 바돌로매지파의 세대별 비율을 분석한 결과, 2030 세대에 해당하는 청년층이 40%로 가장 높은 비중을 차지했다. 그 뒤를 이어 부녀(30%), 장년(15%), 노년(15%) 순으로 집계됐다.
교인 10명 중 4명이 2030 세대인 셈이다. 이는 최근 국내 기독교계 전반에서 나타나고 있는 청년층 교회 이탈 가속화 및 교인 노령화 추세와는 확연한 차이를 보이는 데이터다.

신천지 바돌로매지파가 매년 꾸준한 성장률을 유지하고 2030 세대를 유입시킬 수 있었던 핵심 동력은 체계화된 ‘성경 중심 교육’이다. 그 중심에는 지난 2014년 6월 첫선을 보인 자체 제작 교제 ‘월간 묵상집’이 있다.
청년 성도들의 신앙 체계 확립을 목적으로 도입된 이 묵상집은 초기 격월 발행 시스템에서 출발했으나, 교육적 효과와 참여도가 높아지면서 매달 발행으로 전환됐다. 이달 기준 통권 89호를 맞이하며 12년째 명맥을 굳건히 이어오고 있다.
신천지 바돌로매지파 교육부장은 이 묵상집의 특성을 ‘성경 중심 심층 분석’으로 요약했다. 주관적인 감상이나 추상적인 해석에 치중하는 기존 묵상 방식에서 탈피해 성경 원문 자체를 객관적이고 깊이 있게 숙고하도록 구조화했다는 것이다. 이러한 논리적이고 명확한 해답 제시 방식이 기성세대의 일방적 가르침보다 합리성을 중시하는 2030 세대 성향과 정확히 맞물렸다는 평가를 받는다.
