러시아-우크라이나 간의 현대 전쟁에서 드론 무기가 종종 떠올려진다.
드론이란, 인간의 기술이 하늘을 맘대로 날아다니는 조류(鳥類)세계에 도전하는 것이다.
드론에는 하늘로 부상(浮上)할 수 있는 동력이 장착돼 있다. 전기+모터가 작동한다. 그리고 인공위성에 탑재된 플랫폼의 조종을 받으면서 새들처럼 자유자재로 하늘을 날아다닌다.
세계에서 가장 높은 산맥인 히말라야 산맥의 평균 고도는 약 6,000m 이상이다. 에베레스트 산(히말라야의 최고봉)의 높이는 8,848.86m. 이 산맥은 아시아 대륙 북부에 걸쳐 있다. 네팔, 중국, 인도, 부탄 등 여러 국가에 걸쳐 있다.
그런데 이 높디높은 산맥을 나는 철새가 있다. 대표적인 철새로는 줄기러기(쇠재두루미)가 있다. 이 철새는 극한의 고도와 기상 조건을 견뎌내며 비행한다.
