[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 이재명 정부가 부동산 세제 인상을 검토한다는 신호가 나오자, 국민의힘이 “시장에 또다시 폭탄을 던지려 한다”며 강하게 반발했다.
박성훈 국민의힘 수석대변인은 19일 논평에서 “세금만으로 시장을 통제하겠다는 위험한 망상은 이미 문재인 정부 시절 처절하게 실패했던 정책이었다”고 비판했다.
공급보다 증세 카드 만지작?
박 대변인은 김용범 청와대 정책실장이 최근 한 언론 인터뷰에서 “공급 정책이 발표되면 세금 문제를 고민할 것”이라고 언급한 점을 지적했다.
그는 “이재명 대통령이 수차례 세금으로 집값을 잡지 않겠다고 했지만, 고위 인사들이 연이어 증세 가능성을 시사하고 있다”면서 “또한 정부·여당이 이를 원론적 발언으로 축소하려 하지만, 오히려 당정 간의 엇박자만 드러났다”고 직격했다.
“세금 의존 정책, 이미 실패했다”
그는 “문재인 정부에서 세금에 의존한 부동산 정책이 실패했음을 누구보다 여당이 잘 알고 있다”고 주장했다. 이어 “그럼에도 이재명 정부가 같은 길을 반복하려는 것은 무책임한 도박”이라며 “책임질 수 없는 발언으로 국민을 기만하는 행위는 결국 정부의 무능함을 드러냈다”고 비판했다.
“실수요자와 고령층 부담만 키웠다”
박 대변인은 부동산 관련 세금 인상이 단순한 세율 조정이 아니라 국민 재산권과 직결된 사안이라고 강조했다. 그는 “소득은 오르지 않았는데 공시가격이 올랐다는 이유로 세금을 과도하게 부과하면 부담은 실수요자와 고령층에게 돌아갔다”고 지적했다.
또 “이재명 정부가 원칙 없는 증세를 밀어붙일 경우 조세 정의가 훼손되고 정책 신뢰가 무너졌다”고 강력 비판했다.
“정부 규제가 시장 왜곡 불렀다”
그는 “이재명 정부의 부동산 정책은 잡겠다는 집값은 못 잡고 서민과 청년, 신혼부부 등 실수요자만 옥죄었다”고 날을 세웠다.
그는 이어 “서울의 집값은 치솟았고 거래는 얼어붙었으며, 전세 매물 부족으로 전세의 월세화 현상이 심화됐다”면서 “정부가 규제를 강화할수록 시장 왜곡과 서울 집중 현상만 부추겼다”고 꼬집었다.
“세제 합리화보다 공급 확대 시급하다”
박 대변인은 “정부는 세제 합리화를 고민하기보다 하루라도 빨리 실효성 있는 공급 확대책을 내놔야 했다”고 촉구했다. 이어 “주택 시장 전반에 대한 구조적 진단과 공급 전략을 재정립해야 했다”고 강조했다.

The opposition People Power Party (PPP) has slammed the Lee Jae-myung administration for “throwing another bomb into the real estate market” after the presidential office signaled possible tax hikes.
PPP’s senior spokesman Park Sung-hoon said in a statement on January 19, “The dangerous fantasy of controlling the housing market with taxes has already failed miserably under the Moon Jae-in administration.”
“Tax Hikes Over Supply? A Misguided Direction”
Park referred to remarks by Kim Yong-beom, the presidential chief of policy, who said in a recent interview that the government would “consider tax issues after announcing its housing supply plan.” Park noted that “although President Lee repeatedly pledged not to use taxes to control home prices, senior officials continue to hint at hikes.”
He said that “the Democratic Party’s repeated attempts to downplay the impact of these statements only expose internal discord within the administration.”
“Tax-Based Housing Policy Already Failed”
“The Moon administration’s tax-heavy housing policy failed, and the current government is repeating the same mistakes,” Park argued. “Making irresponsible remarks that deceive the public only reveals the government’s incompetence,” he added.
“Burden Falls on Ordinary Homeowners”
Park stressed that real estate taxation “is not a simple rate adjustment but a matter directly tied to property rights.”
He warned that “imposing excessive taxes on those whose incomes have not risen but whose publicly assessed property values have increased will only burden genuine homeowners and the elderly.” He added, “An unprincipled tax hike will destroy tax fairness, and a policy without public trust cannot succeed.”
“Market Distortion Worsened by Government Controls”
Park said the administration’s housing policies “failed to stabilize prices and only tightened the grip on ordinary buyers, young people, and newlyweds.” He added, “Seoul housing prices keep soaring, transactions have frozen, and rent-to-lease conversions have further driven up costs.” and “Government regulations have only deepened market distortions and concentration in Seoul,” he said.
“Focus on Supply, Not Taxes”
Park concluded by urging the government “to shift focus from tax rationalization debates to practical measures expanding housing supply.” He said, “The administration must conduct a comprehensive structural diagnosis of the housing market and reset its supply strategy.”
