【브레이크뉴스 구미】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 구자근 국회의원(구미시갑)이 2026년 정부 예산 심사 과정에서 구미시 관련 9개 사업에 총 1조7천억 원 규모의 사업비를 확보했다고 9일 밝혔다.
구 의원은 이번 예산 확보에 대해 “역대 최대 국비 증액 성과”라고 평가했다.
가장 눈에 띄는 사업은 구미~군위 고속도로 타당성 조사 용역비다. 이번에 반영된 25억2천4백만 원은, 총사업비 1조5천627억 원에 달하는 이 사업의 본격화를 위한 첫걸음이다.
그동안 해당 사업은 지난 11월 예비타당성조사는 통과했지만, 후속 절차를 위한 예산이 정부안에 빠져 추진이 불투명한 상황이었다.
구 의원은 예타 단계부터 국회와 지속적으로 협의해 왔으며, 이번 증액을 통해 2026년부터 타당성 조사가 곧바로 이뤄질 전망이다.
구미경찰서 관사 재건축 예산 확보도 주목된다. 1977년 준공된 기존 관사는 시설 노후화로 누수와 균열이 심해, 재건축 필요성이 꾸준히 제기되어 왔다.
그러나 예산 문제로 사업이 지연돼 왔는데, 이번에 총 66억5천만 원이 반영되면서 구미시의 숙원사업이 본격 추진될 것으로 보인다.
아울러 미래 신산업 기반 조성을 위한 예산도 대거 포함됐다. 반도체 장비 챔버용 소재·부품 제조 및 검증 테스트베드(총 350억 원), 생성형 AI 기반 가상융합 콘텐츠 제작센터, 수요확대형 배터리 테스트베드(350억 원), 초정밀 나노기술 전자유리 부품소재 상용화 기반(130억 원), 창업거점 스타트업 필드(40억 원) 등이 이번 정부 예산에 이름을 올렸다.
또한 AI 가전 글로벌 인증 신속 지원을 위한 가상검증 인프라(200억 원), 지역 앵커기업-지역대학 전략기술 공동개발(95억 원) 등 공모사업도 포함되어 추가 국비 확보 가능성이 더 커졌다.
구 의원이 21대 국회부터 꾸준히 추진해온 선기동 노후 철도 박스 개량사업도 내년도 예산안에 포함됐다. 1905년에 설치된 이 철도 박스는 폭과 높이가 낮아 마을버스, 택배차량 등의 통행이 어려워 주민 불편과 안전 문제가 반복되어 왔다. 구 의원은 지난해 국토부 장관을 직접 현장에 초청해 점검하도록 하는 등 적극 나섰고, 총사업비 175억4천만 원의 개량사업이 예산에 반영됐다.
구자근 의원은 “지역의 현안을 해결하고 성장동력을 마련하기 위해 구미시와 한 팀으로 뛰었던 노력의 결과”라며 “앞으로도 주요 사업들이 차질 없이 추진될 수 있도록 끝까지 챙기겠다”고 밝혔다.

Funding for a semiconductor equipment chamber materials and component manufacturing and verification testbed (totaling 35 billion won), a generative AI-based virtual convergence content production center, a demand-scaling battery testbed (35 billion won), a commercialization foundation for ultra-precision nanotechnology electronic glass component materials (13 billion won), and a startup field (4 billion won) as a startup hub has been included in this government budget.
Furthermore, the inclusion of public offering projects, such as a virtual verification infrastructure to expedite global certification of AI home appliances (20 billion won) and joint development of strategic technologies between local anchor companies and local universities (9.5 billion won), further increases the likelihood of securing additional national funding.
The Seongi-dong aging railroad box improvement project, which Councilman Koo has consistently promoted since the 21st National Assembly, has also been included in next year's budget. Installed in 1905, the box's low width and height make it difficult for village buses and delivery vehicles to pass through, causing repeated inconveniences and safety issues for residents. Councilman Koo proactively took action, inviting the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to the site last year for an on-site inspection.
