(브레이크뉴스 광주·전남) 이학수 기자=전라남도는 ‘제4회 무등산권 지오마라톤 대회’가 오는 11일 금호화순스파리조트 주차장에서 성대하게 막을 올린다고 밝혔다.
이번 대회는 ‘무등산권 유네스코 세계지질공원 재인증 기원’을 슬로건으로 내걸고, 단순한 마라톤을 넘어선 지역 축제의 장으로 기대를 모으고 있다.
이번 대회 코스는 담양군 가사문학면 인암삼거리와 화순군 백아면 다곡삼거리를 거쳐 다시 금호리조트로 돌아오는 순환 코스로 구성된다.
특히, 5·18 민주화운동 45주년을 기념해 마련된 5.18㎞ 코스에는 450명의 특별 참가자를 포함해 전국 마라토너 1천450명이 함께 달리며 그 의미를 더할 예정이다. 대회는 광주광역시, 전라남도, 담양군, 화순군 등이 공동 주최했다.
마라톤 대회는 유튜브 등을 통해 3시간 동안 생중계된다. 중계에는 윤여춘 해설위원(대한육상연맹 특보)과 로버트 허드슨(2023 동아마스터즈·2024 지오마라톤 우승자) 홍보대사가 참여해 현장의 열기를 전할 예정이다.
