시는 ‘시민 중심 좋은 일자리! 지속가능한 일자리 도시 포항!’을 비전으로 제시하고, 이를 실현하기 위해 ▲미래 신산업 기반 일자리 ▲선진도시형 인프라 일자리 ▲수요·공급 맞춤형 일자리 ▲삶의 질을 높이는 행복 일자리 등 4대 실천 과제를 중점 추진한다.
올해는 직접 일자리 사업, 직업훈련, 창업지원 등 7개 분야에 총 6,092억 원을 투입해, 지난해보다 600개 증가한 3만3,800개의 일자리를 창출할 계획이다.
특히 철강산업 불황과 이차전지 산업 수요 정체 등 불확실한 경제 여건 속에서도 민생경제 안정과 고용의 질적 개선을 핵심 목표로 설정했다.
청년층을 위한 일자리도 강화된다. 시는 청년창업LAB, 포항청춘센터, 창업플랫폼 등 기존 인프라를 활용하고, 대학일자리플러스센터와 로컬솔루션 프로젝트, 일자리공감페이 등을 통해 취업·창업 전 과정을 아우르는 맞춤형 지원을 확대한다.
또한, 철강 고도화 및 이차전지 산업의 경쟁력 확보를 위한 전문 인력 양성은 물론, 여성 전기기능공 육성, 신중년 재취업 등 계층별 특화 일자리 창출에도 나선다.
이와 함께 일자리종합센터, 자투리시간거래소, 상·하반기 취업박람회 등을 통해 온·오프라인 고용지원 체계를 촘촘히 구축하고, 민·관·산·학이 참여하는 ‘포항형 일자리 거버넌스’를 정비해 정책 실행력을 높일 방침이다.
이강덕 포항시장은 “신성장 산업 중심의 일자리 확대로 민생 안정과 지역경제 회복을 이끌고, 시민 모두가 체감할 수 있는 일자리 정책을 지속해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
