농협중앙회(회장 강호동)는 21일 서울 종로 서울노인복지센터에서 "설 명절 사랑의 쌀 나눔 행사"를 개최하며 지역사회 나눔을 실천했다고 밝혔다.
이날 행사에는 강호동 회장과 농협 임직원 봉사단이 참석해 햅쌀 2톤과 즉석쌀밥 1,000세트를 후원하고, 쌀떡국 1,000인분을 직접 배식하며 설 명절 분위기를 전했다.
강호동 회장은 "설 명절을 맞아 도움이 필요한 분들께 쌀을 기부하고 따뜻한 한 끼를 제공할 수 있어 뜻깊은 시간이었다"며, "앞으로도 농협은 소외된 이웃들과 함께할 수 있는 활동을 지속하겠다"고 말했다.
농협은 1월 사회공헌 테마를 '새해·설날 맞이 나눔활동'으로 정하고, 전국적으로 상생과 사회적 가치 확산에 나서고 있다. 계열사를 포함한 범농협은 떡국떡, 우리 농산물, 연탄 등을 나누며 취약계층을 대상으로 200차례에 걸쳐 16억원 상당의 물품을 지원하고 있다.
Nonghyup Chairman Kang Ho-dong organizes rice sharing event
Nonghyup Central Association (Chairman Kang Ho-dong) announced on the 21st that it held the “Lunar New Year Rice Sharing Event” at the Seoul Senior Citizens Welfare Center in Jongno, Seoul, to share with the local community.
Chairman Kang Ho-dong and a volunteer group of Nonghyup employees attended the event, where they donated 2 tons of brown rice and 1,000 sets of instant rice, and personally served 1,000 servings of rice cake soup to spread the spirit of the Lunar New Year.
“It was a meaningful time to be able to donate rice and provide a warm meal to those in need during the Lunar New Year,” said Chairman Kang Ho-dong. ”Nonghyup will continue to engage in activities that allow us to share with marginalized neighbors.”
Nonghyup has set the theme of its January social contribution program as “Sharing Activities for the New Year and Lunar New Year,” and is working to spread coexistence and social values nationwide. Nonghyup, including its affiliates, has donated 1.6 billion won ($1.6 million) worth of goods to the underprivileged over 200 times by sharing tteokguktteok, Korean agricultural products, and briquettes.
