【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평군은 지난 18일 한국 프로야구의 전설이자 군 홍보대사인 송진우 감독을 일일멘토로 초청해 리틀야구교실 특별강습을 진행했다고 밝혔다.
송 감독은 증평읍에서 태어나 증평초, 세광중ㆍ고, 동국대를 거쳐 한화에 21년 몸담으며 210승 100세이브라는 신화를 쓴 KBO의 역사다.
지난해 5월 군 홍보대사로 위촉된 송 감독은 지역을 대표해 증평 체육의 매력을 알리는 다양한 활동을 펼치고 있다.
이날 특별강습은 지역의 생활, 리틀야구인들의 소망이 반영돼 올해 4월 개장한 증평생활야구장에서 열렸다.
수업은 스트레칭 및 런닝으로 가볍게 시작해 선수들의 피칭자세 교정, 포메이션 플레이 등 수비 레슨으로 이어졌다.
또한 컨디션 조절 및 보강 운동 방법 등 본인만의 노하우를 야구꿈나무들에게 아낌없이 전수했다.
송진우 감독은 “증평군이 이렇게 야구 열기가 넘치는 지역인데 초중고 엘리트 야구팀이 없다는 것이 안타깝다”며, “야구인이자 홍보대사로서 증평의 야구 인프라 확장에 더욱 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 이번 멘토링은 증평군체육회의 주관으로 진행되는 ‘신나는 주말 프로그램’의 일환으로, 초등학생부터 고등학생까지를 대상으로 오는 8월까지 진행될 예정이다.
